Salsa Music Appreciation Thread
I just finished watching a documentary about Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz on the Colombia channel here in the DR. Talk about salsa royalty
I saw this guy live in Holguin:
Best introduction for salsa I've seen:
My dad is a big time fan of Salsa, while I have never liked latin music to be honest, there are some tunes that are pure gold. You can't deny how great music salsa was at its time.
Damn. I didn't know that this thread went in the direction I was hoping for

Just kidding. It's great to know that I'm not the only guy who still likes salsa music.
By the way:

By the way:
Some classics in here. I'll post some of my favorite social dancing videos to some of my favorite songs.
"Lágrimas" by Roberto Blades, Rubén Blades's brother.
"Dilema" by Johnny Ventura
"Okairí Okairá" by Orlando Pabellón
"Gotas de Lluvia" by El Gran Combo
"La Negra Tomasa" Ismael Rivera

And some of my favorites that unfortunately don't have good social dancing videos:
Can't believe "Llorarás" has yet to show up in this thread.
Something new... beast song...
Last but not least, the GOAT.

Finally, we MUST pay homage to the Cuban musicians who actually started ALL this shit, both the ones we know from the past and those obscure ones who went, and continue to go, without the recognition they deserved. Us Puerto Ricans wouldn't have taken over if the embargo didn't stop the flow of those visionaries from Cuba coming over to NYC. Respect.
Mátala Mátala Mátala ... No Tiene Corazón Mala Mujer
Now this opens strong
I heard this song all the time when I was learning salsa in Colombia and it's still one of my favorites.
