Lafayette, Louisiana Datasheet

I've lived in Lafayette, LA for about a year now so it's time to drop some data.

To summarize: this town sucks for game but Saturdays are fun here. Go to New Orleans instead.

Nobody really goes out during the week.

There are not a lot of single girls here. Town only has about 120k people. Most girls get knocked up/married young. Most of the money here is in oil, so if you're a single girl, there's no real reason to stay here besides the university.

Bars legally close at 2 AM here. [Image: angry.gif]

Downtown

Downtown has a mixed reputation here. The city is dumb enough to put some housing projects right near downtown so of course there's high probability of crime. I've seen straight up beatdowns on weekdays, yes.

That being said, if you're a player, Downtown really is the only option.

Somehow, this is a HUGE Saturday town. I don't get it, but downtown will be packed on Saturday. Fridays will be 50/50. Fridays can be so give and take that guys go to the gym consistently on Friday and just relax doing curls, bullshitting around. They know that the bars are shitty on Friday. Weekdays suck. The only good night for meeting girls is Saturday.

You should take an Uber. It's actually really good here and considering the town is small it won't be that expensive. There are a lot of cops in the streets on Saturday. No you cannot drink in the street here.

Just in case you want to drive - you can park in the street on the weekends for free but it's a great way to get checked for a DUI. Cops are in full effect here checking people who drive. There's a parking lot down the street from City Bar, the guy will have flourescent coveralls on. Park here. For $5 you pay to be close to action, and if the night doesn't go well, you can come back here, swish some mouthwash in the car, and escape the cop patrols.

City Bar - this is the main bar downtown, hands down. The drinks are strong and this place will be packed on Saturday. This bar is where I spend most of my time. It's a funny bar, because there is really no "dance floor" so people are popping up dancing in random places. This bar gets crazy and I am definitely a supporter. This is the best place to meet girls, and everybody knows it. Fly girls go here. Dress to impress. City Bar has a reputation of being crazy so single girls who are looking to get picked up come here. It's one of those bars that you don't go to "spend time with your friends." It's too loud and wild for that shit .

Marley's - I can't decide if I like this bar or not. I usually start nights here, but I never finish here. It's a good place to start talking to girls and then bounce somewhere else. But, there's something about the bar layout that I don't really like. I can't put my finger on it.

Z club - I went here to see a friend's band...nothing special.

The Office - This bar is REALLY give or take. There are nights when it is completely empty. Then there are nights when there is a line down the block to get in. The staff is not very professional and it's obvious they aren't a stable business. But, when this place is packed, it can be really fun. They have a dancefloor that gets packed but the bar is pretty separate. The bar area is separate and then there are these great sofas for macking, so this is a good bar to talk to girls and then go dance. I suggest trying to go here.

Green Room - hipsters and pool tables. There are a lot of hipsters here so the quality of girls is give and take, but they have a lot of pool tables that go all night so it's good to go here to warm up.

Johnston Street Pub - aka JSP - I used to rave about this bar because it had amazing logistics. JSP technically has two bars - the main 18+ club area that is give/take some nights but has no smoking, and the smaller lounge area that is 21+ and allows smoking, with quieter music and lighter ambience. I would post up in the lounge area until I found a lonely twenty-something sneak into the lounge side for a quick smoke, approach, then go back to the club side. It was great. But, they banned smoking in the lounge side. I don't go here too much now that there's no smoking. This bar is mostly sorority girls. There are a lot of frat guys there, so there's more competition, but as long as you fit in with The South you'll be fine.

Keg - This is the bar for ULL. If you are over 25 years old, you will look older. If you are a recent graduate, it will be easy to work the "older man" vibe without appearing out of place. Keg is only open on Wednesdays and Fridays. Wednesday is greek night so the frat force is in full effect. Friday gets pretty wild so don't dress nice, there will be piss and sweat everywhere. This place gets hot. I don't think they have AC. It's 3 miles from downtown and near campus. Unless you are 18 and wear jeans and a t shirt, I do not suggest going here.

River Ranch Area

River Ranch is the "rich" city in a city of Lafayette. They have a Whole Foods and the main area where you can walk around and go to these nice boutique stores. Could be a good place to daygame if you're into that.

Tim & Tia's - This bar has huge potential. The owner, Tim, owns a lot of the land in town and has money to blow, so he opened this bar as his own personal hangout. This bar has an amazing set up for dates. However, nobody goes. Ever. I have maybe only seen 10 or 15 people in there. And when it's empty, it feels depressing because it's so open and there's no one in there.

Tap Room - This place is pretty much an upper level sports bar. Ladies night on wednesday sucks. Chill bar but nothing crazy.

Restuarants

Food in Lafayette is subpar to New Orleans, hands down, not sorry to any Cajuns reading this.

Pamplona is an "authentic" Spanish restuarant that is nestled in a house right off of the downtown area. $90 will get you appetizers, good paella for two, and a bottle of wine. If you have a date, go here. These silly coonasses have no idea this place exists and any cool chick will be glad to try something new.

Other

Go to Red Lerille's Health & Racquet Club. It is a huge health club that has everything you can think of. Say that you just moved to the area and are interested in a membership, and you will get a week pass for free.

Downtown Alive (DTA) is a free music event downtown on Fridays in the summer. I went once, it was filled with old married couples drinking bud light cheering about how great Acadiana is. Hey, not my cup of tea.

Cabs are absolutely terrible here. Rumor is they're all owned by the same guys so there's no competition or incentive to do well, and obviously the cab volume isn't high. Driving drunk is a sport out here, and because of it, car insurance is really high. Take an Uber, it's very good here.

Overall Lafayette is OK. I don't suggest moving here if you don't have to. If you want to game you go downtown, bounce around whichever bar is happening, and then go to City Bar.

To describe the area better, I'll use Roosh's Recent "10 Things I Learned From Touring The American Midwest" to compare the Midwest to Southern Louisiana.

Similarities

4. People are incredibly nice

Like most of the South, everybody is friendly and if you explain you're new to the area they will be glad to help with anything. It's easy to go to a bar and shoot the shit with people, and the folk are more interesting here due to alcohol and culture.

5. Very high social trust with deep social networks

Roosh hit the nail on the head:
Quote:Quote:

Now I know why I’m not a big hit among men in the Midwest: my cold approach game would get you quickly marked in your town and ostracized. The best strategy here is to have a lot of friends and date the women in your social circle. Without a social circle in the Midwest, you’re a bit screwed when it comes to landing the best women, who get snapped up soon in college or even high school. If a girl in the Midwest is single past the age of 25, she likely has serious issues that make her an unsuitable mate. She’ll relocate to DC or NYC to try for a Sex And The City lifestyle of experiencing a few rounds of alpha male cock before she has to go back home a broken woman, lamenting about her fun days in the big city.

The bolded text is even more true here, because:

-The oil & gas industry brings in larger numbers of wealthy young men to pillage town and marry young college girls.

-If girls graduate college and want to live the S&TC lifestyle, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Houston are all within 250 miles. They can become a career woman, ride the carousel, and still be within 3 hours of mama's house.

-More married girls = less single girls = less friends for single girls = crazy sluts

Then it's easy to see why cold approach is not so effective. Any girl who stays here will be swallowed up by a boyfriend or social circle, or else she'll leave. There is a tiny window of girls who are single, out during the small nightlife hours, not out with a big group, and are sexually available.

This was made clear last night, when LSU girls flocked home and celebrated finishing the semester. Cold approach went terrible because they were all in groups, or waiting to meet up with an old high school fling.

6. Obesity is a serious problem

8. It’s significantly cheaper

9. You’ll need a car

10. It could be a good place to raise a family

Despite Louisiana being fatter than the midwest (thanks, po boys), I think this would be a great place to raise a family. There are many benefits of big city life (vibrant networks, wealthy retirees, event schedule, dining venues) that an older man would want, without the negatives (nightclubs open all hours, traffic, cost of living). This would be an exciting place to settle down.

Differences

1. Very high white population

This is the South so there is a high black population, with minimal hispanic population [Image: cry.gif]. Demographics are around 70% white, 25% black, 5% other.

2. People use their smartphones significantly less
3. No gays

There are more lesbians here then I've ever seen in the South. Multiple times I have approached a girl only to be told the girl she's out with is her girlfriend. This makes me hesitant when I see a large group of girls and a few of them have short hair. I'm not sure why this exists.

7. Men are more masculine and woman are more feminine

I agree to a certain extent, but I think the excessive alcohol culture has increased estrogen in men. Most of the guys I meet who aren't single are huge pussies and end up getting fat, while their wives are loud and obnoxious "cajun gals!" There are no southern belles here, and the few that exist were all married off before they were of legal drinking age.

The ball gowns and hoop dresses have been replaced by Mossy Oak and RealTree.

I second this 100%, and I think it's important for guys to understand how things are in the Deep South, because the assumption that everything is "red pill" and traditional here is not completely accurate.

I'll add my own observations about the state of this specific area. I'm discussing Southern Louisiana generally because, like redbeard, I have extensive experience all over this state. At times I will narrow it in on Lafayette.

Very true. One thing I notice that shocks visitors is how helpful the local people are. I think it comes from a culture of comfortability. People are very comfortable with each other, and they are comfortable giving in to all kinds of temptations as well. Southern Louisiana has a very big "fuck it" mentality to it.

That is a huge plus when it comes to people helping others (and, as Roosh noted, it's sometimes a bit naive). But it has a lot of downsides, as I will explain.

5. Very high social trust with deep social networks

Everything redbeard wrote here is incredibly on-point. Especially this:

Quote:Quote:

More married girls = less single girls = less friends for single girls = crazy sluts

Emphasize crazy sluts. This is true of Lafayette and all its neighboring little towns and cities. The single girls you'll find--the ones who are chronically single, the ones who make a career of going out--are broken. And with the increased national emphasis away from marrying young, you will find more girls going out longer.

However, you run into a problem because the nightlife infrastructure is poor. As redbeard points out, there aren't a whole lot of girls who go out often. When people want to get drunk, they usually default to house parties, etc. because the power of the social circle here is so dominant. In fact, it's so dominant that hot single girls in high school and early college are often recycled by two or three relatively alpha guys, often for half a decade or more. So there isn't a huge market catering to girls trying to get dick.

Thus, everyone must go to shitty clubs and bars. This becomes a gateway drug for girls to experience the more trashy, classless side of things. Remarkably, they then quickly adopt these trash characteristics and become friends with the other friendless sluts whose friends are all married. Suddenly they have other friends to out with, who introduce them to a degenerate lifestyle they will never, ever escape.

The most predictable course of action for such a girl is to move into some cheap town near Lafayette working as a beautician or secretary for some ship building company like Bollinger's after dropping out of college.

And thus you have created a hardcore population of insane sluts who lose their more feminine, married friends to a growing club of classless broads. And this population is growing because more and more girls are encouraged not to marry.

I'll get into the incredible trash potential below.

6. Obesity is a serious problem

If obesity was Ebola this whole state would've been shut down.

Never mind the numbers of obese people, the extremes of obesity are shocking. I've worked in a funeral home for two years, and we would pick up bodies from a very large area, occasionally including Lafayette, but mostly in the coastal area. We routinely buried bodies that were upwards of 300 pounds. The record for me personally is 600. We literally used a forklift to remove the man from his home.

And you will see these grotesquely obese people in the streets far more than anywhere else I've ever seen.

Especially if you're a wealthy man. There is a powerful and rather welcoming network of conservative, success-oriented men who greatly value guys with a hard work ethic and masculine nature.

Yeah, this is not a whitewashed area.

You will see girls pull out their smartphones everywhere here. At the movies, in the club, on a date. I don't know why, that's just the way it is.

There's a transgender chick at my sister's high school who routinely complains about not having a bathroom to use. In Lafayette there's a vibrant pro-gay culture and an in-your-face faggot demographic. HIV has found its way into many small towns. Church-going teenage guys in conservative families who pound each other just to fit into a national identity of LGBT pride are not rare.

And a huge number of girls have fucked girls.

There was a two month span this year where all three of the new bangs I had were from "lesbians" or "bisexuals." Pin it to the deviant nature of some of these nightlife sluts. They can be really fun in bed, but they're damaged badly, and many of them go through a phase of being completely lesbian.

It usually hits them early, like in high school, but you will often encounter girls--from Lafayette to Houma to Slidell to Grand Isle to Gibson to New Orleans--who go purely lesbian. It's more of a phase I think than a permanent shift in demographics, but it's still widespread and can cockblock you relatively hard.

There are no southern belles here.

People here who say this girl or that girl is a "southern belle," or worse, girls who call themselves southern belles, are obnoxious people who want to pedestalize bar trash and coonass sluts.

The "Cajun gal" redbeard speaks of comes in three flavors: 1) the uppity bitch who "dresses up" in leggings and a scarf in 70 degree weather to put on an appearance of class while her behavior is indistinguishable from the other girls making out with four guys in a club, 2) the fat girl (that's all that needs to be said here), and 3) the outright trash that makes no attempt to conceal it by wearing men's clothes, flat bill hats, and adopting a male thug persona.

Aside from partying college girls who can deliver sexiness and a reasonable amount of class, these Cajun gals are the only girls you will see when going out for night game.

As for the men, here you will see some very masculine guys (they generally get married early or leave completely), some thug guys who are trapped in the trap (that's the dominant kind anywhere south of New Orleans), and severely socially retarded men. Most of the latter are huge pussies.

That can be blamed on the alcohol, and it can be blamed on the social value of doing whatever you want--drinking, gossiping, eating (the food here is great), playing video games, blowing all your money on a giant truck, etc. When you live this way, and you never had strong social awareness, it's easy to stay inside playing video games all day, neglecting your body, drinking your T away, and jerking off furiously every night.

But when it comes time to hunt, the amazing bitch shields and outright trash these guys encounter in the bars and clubs leave them shell shocked. Without social circle game to fall back on, they're left behind, both in poon and life. It's a well-understood pattern, and it's exacerbated in the South a bit by the huge emphasis on knowing people and having good social skills, but it's no worse than in some places in the North. Still, these guys are very common. My personal gold standard example for the ultimate male pussy is a guy from this area (Mark Fletcher can attest to this).

As for the women being more feminine, if you're talking about married women, then I can somewhat agree that yes, the women here are more feminine. If you're talking about all single girls over 21, then I'd have to disagree.

Overall, I'd say guys are more masculine than guys from, say, Los Angeles. There's a huge hunting, fishing, and football culture down here. If you lock eyes with a man, it's very easy to start a fight. I would say it's incredibly easy to start a fight here compared to most other places. It's the not give a fuck attitude of Southern Louisiana. But as I've discussed and as redbeard touched on, there are many many pussified guys, and a growing number of outright faggots and dykes. The contrast of the traditional masculine guys, the lazy sportsman guys, the hardass thugs, and the estrogenic guys can be shocking.

The contrast works for women as well. You can find some very classy Southern women. You can also find some of the most masculine, trashy sluts you will ever see in your life. For instance, I was out just last night in one Southern city when a random girl attempted to physically assault me multiple times for calling her a bitch. To clarify, I did not call her a bitch, and her and her friends approached me for the sole purpose of having an altercation with a man. I eventually had to forcibly push her, and even that did not completely stop her.

While that was an isolated incident, that kind of masculine girl is very common. The rampant Cajun gal is everywhere, and if you aren't prepared to hit a woman (like I've often said I was but really wasn't), then you'll have to face the danger of experiencing prolonged assault (of a purely non-sexual kind).

So, in short, Southern Louisiana is a place of extremes and contrasts. There's an old kind of lifestyle that's being confronted by a steadily growing cesspool of shit, both of which have values spawned by an emphasis on giving in to whatever desires you want and not caring much about consequences.

These values--reflected in the heavy drinking, Mardi Gras/celebration-friendly, comfortable and friendly nature of the older lifestyle--have allowed the newer ones to infect this area.

Edit: This is written from the point of view of night game and how the general culture is. Because you'll experience terrible girls at night, avoid night game outside of any town or city that lacks a university. It's not worth it and you'll have a bad taste in your mouth for this whole state. In the cities like Lafayette, nightlife is hard but you'll catch some decent girls every now and then. Day game is the way to go outside of cities.

I can attest to Reds being awesome. Its the biggest gym I've ever been to in my life. You were spot on about City Bar Redbeard. Another place you might have missed is Daquiris Supreme. Thursday night is ladies night, lots of talent comes out.

You have to add Blue Moon Saloon which is the best bar in Lafayette. If there isn't live music there in a particular night look for live music. In April every year there is a free 5 day music festival called Festival International which I missed a few times due to my schedule. Locals tell me it is outstanding.

Personally I disagree about your food comment. Lafayette has the best food in America, especially for a small city. Olde time grocery, Blue Dog, etc. New Orleans is so much bigger of course you can hand pick a few winners but Lafayette food is mind blowing amazing at any and every local joint.

Festival International is worth a mention. It's a completely free festival every year, Wednesday - Sunday in April. There are bands and art vendor set up everywhere as well as all the restuarants are open serving food and drink. If you're around...it's a cool thing to do. The bars are absolutely packed at night.

I didn't suggest it because it's not my shtick. Since it's a free event, there are no major bands and even the headliners are no-namers. Booze and food are expensive. Most importantly - I have mild claustrophobia and crowds give me anxiety. Between the money and crowds...it's not worth it. I went last year pretty hard, and it was a shitshow. Fights everywhere downtown. This year I went one day with my mini LTR and one day to daygame... it was fun, but I wouldn't suggest making the trip just for Festival.

Lafayette is so dumb they have their biggest festival at the same time during Jazz Fest in New Orleans, which this year had Snoop Dogg, Arturo Sandoval, Stevie Wonder, Flo Rida, and millions of other artists.

I've only been to Daquiri's Supreme to chill during the week...probably been off nights. I'll check it out more in the future. Same with Blue Moon, I went once but maybe it was a bad night. Not too many girls.

Cajun women are a mixed bag. You have to watch out because many don't take birth control. The bartenders in this town are very hot, so even on off nights you can spit some game.

JSP is a good spot. Out of all the places downtown I've got the most traction there. Rhythms on the River is good if nothing else is going down that night.

The food down here is very good and not many girls know how to cook. A new gourmet burger joint pops up every day. One place I highly recommend is Dark Roux.
