Fucking hell... that's shitty recording of an unbelievable voice singing my favorite Queen song. The piano does it no service, which is a testament to the voice. The recording needed to be vocals only.

He was on his last legs in this one (according to legend, this was done in one take):

Freddie was actually from Zanzibar, an island off the coast of Africa. That being said, his voice really was in a class of it's own. I like to sing, and I have a reasonably good voice, but it amazes me how some singers have a vocal tone that is just in a whole other realm than a mere mortal like me.

As important as vocal quality is expressiveness. Freddie had both, to the maximum degree.

I've never personally seen/heard any recordings of Nate sounding dog awful, though I will admit he is not a "perfect" singer. It's not about how accurately he hits his marks but how he voices his music that gets me.

In his defence, 'Aim and Ignite' has some very audacious-melody writing that would take a master to pull off live.

Never got around to the album after it. The band tore the first album to shreds in the promotion for the second one, so I figured if I really liked that one, the new one wasn't for me.

The faggot's mustache is there to hide the stretch marks.

Is there something "off" today? Because I see a topic with the name Freddie Mercury in it, and then I have a look and see that the majority of posts are kind of dancing around the primary issue THIS PLACE is world renowned for calling out.

That some weird scientists actually thought it'd be a good idea to spend a million dollars to analyze a Freddy Mercury impersonator's vocal cord vibrato?

Seriously, of all the stupid things to study this one bites the dust.[Image: biggrin.gif]

Were those scientists 'in the loop' with those other scientists that just worked out that the Mona Lisa is actually a portrait of Leonardo da Vinci's gay lover?

I didn't even know he was gay, until today.

I hope that doesn't become some kind of slogan, for someone, somewhere.

Here is the link, just in case you think I've lost my mind:

what the fuck? dancing around what issue? he was an admitted gay man, he was the lead singer of a band called queen, what more can you say that he hadn't already said with the gayest flamboyance possible...nobody needs to out the outed...this was about his talent, does the thread just not feel complete unless everybody also says something insulting to match the compliment??? or should we be pretending he didn't have talent cause he sucked cock. or am I missing what you're getting at altogether?

Paul McCartney and Axl Rose are at or near the top for men for range. Mariah Carey for female vocalists. McCartney, somehow, was an underrated vocalist. Just a powerhouse.

Here's isolated vocals for Oh! Darling. A master class.

Here's isolated vocals Helter Skelter. Really impressive.

I could talk about Freddie voice forever.....imo nobody comes even close to him.

Power / Softness: His voice was extremely powerful, yet he could make it extremely delicate and soft. Two classic examples of his power was Under Pressure (live), or Ride the Wild Winds (studio). Yet there were songs like Don't Try So Hard and Pain Is So Close to Pleasure

Emotion: Every word he utter in his songs had emotion. There are so many examples here, but the one I'm selecting is A Winter's Tale because it transport you to a magical place.

Vocal Dexterity: The ability to go from high to low and everything in between without losing quality is by far one of the the most impressive things any singer can do in a studio, let alone live. Somebody to Love, Bohemian Rhapsody are few of many. An underrated vocal dexterity is Seaside Rendezvous

Just watched the Rami Malek movie.
He just won the Oscar for his performance as Freddy Mercury.
Queen's songs were amazing. I can't believe they are still performing at 70 (minus freddy and deacon).

That had some "uncanny valley" aspects to it, like channeling a spirit, and deserved the award. Bog standard rock biopic in other respects, but hell of a performance.

There's some other interesting work recorded in the studio in the years before his death, and put to music later on the album Made In Heaven. The guy kept working until he couldn't work anymore and some of the material, like "You Don't Fool Me", comes off like an extraordinary jam session as they figured out how to make it work with what he was able to leave them.

Nah, just trolling. He was a great singer. Any other singers with a similar vocal range? I'd guess the Alter Bridge guy and Chris Cornell.

I thought Eric Nally from Foxy Shazam was similar

Fuck this fag.

The real hero is David Phelps, an obscure white gospel singer who has an amazing high range while keeping the resonance of a baritone.

I never understood the straight male worship of all these faggot buttfucker singers. Freddy Mercury, David Bowie, Prince, George Michael, Pet Shop Boys, the list goes on and on. I prefer to listen to a male singer that doesn't need to suck dick, to have a good singing voice.

Let it go man

I know, I know..... you are faaar to ALPHA to even fathom listening to a song that comes from a guy who isn't 7 foot tall weighing in at 400lbs of lean muscle with the beard of Zeus and a notch count of 1000 10's

Get over it bro..... good music is good music and liking a song from Queen isn't "male worship"

I like every song listed above

I'm just sick of gays. They don't like traditional, hetero masculinity, so couldn't care less about them

Will still listen to his music though.
