Manizales: Reflections

Hello guys,

Since im new, thought id make an early contribution, even if it isnt so large. Ive just spent Friday through to today in Manizales, staying in the El Cable area (basically its next to the Zona Rosa)

Friday Night: I went out with a couchsurfer and her cousins, nothing happened there. No real bother. We went to a place in the Zona Rosa called Bar San Telmo on Friday. I wouldnt recommend this place, as its a classic Colombian sit down joint where people dance around their table. I cant see how there would be many opportunities in a place like this to make anything happen. Because of this, any other information about the bar is basically irrelevant.

Saturday Night.

Having read a previous data sheet, we hit up Silmaril rock bar (its right next to Bar San Telmo). Personally, I thought this looked OK, with opportunities for dancing and a 15k cover with 5k consumable. It looked like the lack of tables compared to people would give favourable talking opportunities. However, all the bars in this area do shut by 2, so roll up early. The 2 guys I was with wanted to share a bottle of rum so we moved onto a small bar, almost a kiosk bar, reason being that we wanted seats to drink our rum. I think this was a mistake in hindsight in terms of the women, but the night was fun and we were having a great laugh without prioritising the pull, so whatever.

However, we then moved onto a recommended place on a previous thread, a 10K taxi ride away, called Milagros. However, we were there at 12 and it was barely half full, with no opportunities for more mischief. I got talking to a local guy who said it used to be "the place" to be in town but it wasnt so busy anymore, and that he wasnt sure where else would be better.

In conclusion, seems like things didnt work out for us, im more telling people where not to go than where to go....id recommend the rock bar, and asking around for a better late Saturday night option.

City itself is nice, laid back, low gringo factor, plenty of young, attractive girls around who could be daygamed (but I have no daygame so there).
