As per the subject goes.

Rebooting some old leads via text. Some of them are giving 1-2 word short replies like "yes" and "uh huh", the kind you give when you're trying to blow someone off.

Pursue or next?

I feel like that rule only applies to face2face real life interactions, which makes sense since either someone is there physically in front of you and are engaging you, or they physically removed themselves.

With texting, everyone is in a simultaneous state of having already left the conversation but also still being there, that's why it's such a headache. With such short answer you can just throw out a hail mary for a meetup because otherwise you'll just waste your time

Automatic next if she's giving standoffish one word answers. Time is finite.

At least she's replying, while it's a long shot it could be she's just busy or in a bad mood. If a girl really wants to blow you off she'll just stop replying completely. Might be better to take a break and text her in a few days, it's very little effort on your part since it's just a text.

I just pick up the phone and call if I want an answer.

If you're asking open ended questions and getting 1-2 word answers, that's a cold lead for whatever reason on her side. Try again, if you want, in a week or two. No reply is a next and delete number. If you're asking the right questions, you should get a sense of where you stand (and her attraction level). Same as prospecting leads in business. She should only be answering yes/no/ok to your closing questions after you've built your rapport early on. If she's doing that on the first response, you might just need to switch up your reboot text to get better results.
