I've been thinking about buying a money clip by Tumi ($60-70, depending on the store and the sale). It's a handsome thing. But are money clips too old school for a young guy? I'm 23. I'd use it during the week and the weekend.
Are money clips too old school?
No. I have this small leather wallet I bought from Firenze, Italy few years ago which has money clip in the middle, something like this:
![[Image: 3120TF70_001_cl1.jpg]](http://www.trafalgarstore.com/sitemedia/product/largeimages/3120TF70_001_cl1.jpg)
Mine is more light/yellow brownish. I haven't seen so well made wallets on sale anywhere and it was only 10 euros and its very good quality, 3-4 years later and it still looks like new. Next time Im in Italy I will buy 10 of them. I take out cash specially to carry it in the wallet, I wouldn't use cash otherwise.

I'm one of the luckiest man alive, nothing in my life has been easy...
I used to own a CRKT KISS, it's a knife/money clip combo that's super subtle and pretty nice looking. Only runs about $35. Check it out.
A money clip helps you keep a lower pocket profile so your pants look sleeker and more form-fitting.
They always seemed impractical to me. What about all my credit cards, business cards and drivers license?
I went money clip a little over one year ago, when I received a nice one for a gift, and haven't looked back.
Positives:
less weight
less bulk
more swagger (really not really)
Negatives:
The chance of losing it seems higher due to its light weight, though the most trouble I've had is around the house after I take it out of my pocket and put it down.
Putting bills in a money clip is slower than putting them into a wallet when receiving change. Be ready to take an extra moment or two whenever you check out and are using cash.
The total space in the clip is relatively small. You'll carry perhaps 3 cards, some bills, and a license and your space will be absolutely maxed. Though, I find it just helps you to not be a pack-rat and to justify what you are carrying around.
In all, I would have a hard time returning to a wallet.

lately when im meeting a date i will grab my license, amex, mastercard and just throw that in my pocket. very light travel i find no need for wallet.
i also dont use a money clip. i used to but found it too cumbersome really.
when i use a wallet, I go for something like this no fold wallet:

When I went to wearing custom fitted suits every day, I dropped the wallet altogether. I just put my cards and a roll of money in my bespoke pants each day. No money-clip required.
Wallets are for dudes who were bulky clothing that doesn't fit perfectly. If your clothing fits properly, there won't be room for a wallet.

I'm the King of Beijing!
I used rubber bands to wrap my $$$, then ID/CC/back-up CC w/extra rubber band wrapped together. Ultra-thin. Flashy in an odd sort of understated way.
Had the $ clips but it kept falling out my gym shorts. Pass

WIA- For most of men, our time being masters of our own fate, kings in our own castles is short. Even those of us in the game will eventually succumb to ease of servitude rather than deal with the malaise of solitude
I've had this Dosh wallet for over 2 years. Looks and works great. They also have tons of variations if you want more card slots.

They're made in Australia though.

I really like the look of them and I think it helps you to keep your stuff clutter free. You don't need 5 different credit cards and 3 customer loyalty cards and cash etc etc etc. really like this one.

My company gave everyone a metal business card holder like this:
![[Image: original.jpg]](http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/17e0bycaug4yojpg/original.jpg)
With the company logo engraved on it. It's meant for business cards but I never carry mine or need to.
There's enough room for 5 cards plus license, and I just fold my bills in half and stick them with the case and it works.

Usually I'll go with a thin wallet but occasionally I'll use this

This is what I've been carrying for the last year and a half:

I live/work in a really hot and humid environment so leather degrades pretty quickly. The only drawback to carbon fiber is it's very rigid and will eventually start to wear your pockets out. Otherwise I can't complain.

Not on here much anymore. I'm either out on 2 wheels or trying to kill something.
I use an M-Clip, which works perfectly and looks great.
I just used a binder clip prior to that, which works pretty well but it's not designed to be in your pocket. It has pokey edges that snag on the fabric.

This is what I use but in black.

It's nice and slim and carries only what I need. A few cards, ID and cash under the magnetic money clip.

No wallet here.
CASH in one pocket and ID/Credit Card (inside a thin plastic film cover) in the other (both front pockets). Hate the bulge a wallet makes. Never lost money that way.
Some people carry a fat wallet with pics from all his family, checks, all his credit cards, cash, business cards, ID… If you lose your wallet or get stolen, you're screwed.

I've never understood the reasoning behind carrying your life's inventory of slips of paper, cards, receipts, $50.00 in $1 bills, in a 4" thick wallet..
