I've read about and also talked to guys that don't like to pay for a girl's cab in places like Colombia and the DR. This article from Dating Medellin (not a big fan of this site) addresses this issue.

Foreign guys often complain when their paisa dates ask for cab fare. After all, in other countries it’s not common for someone to pay their date’s transportation costs. At best, it feels transactional, unromantic. At worst, this behavior gets lumped in with (mostly incorrect) perceptions about ‘gold-digging’ Colombian women.

It’s true that men usually bear most or all of the expenses on a date with a paisa. But that doesn’t explain the cab fare situation. You can be sure that she doesn’t want to ask you for money, any more than you want your date to feel like a transaction. So what is it, then?

In over thirty years of travelling to Latin America, no Mexican or Costa Rican girl has ever asked me for cab fare. I think Colombian and Dominican girls have asked me for cab fare every single time.

Good post. I both laugh and cringe every time someone says offering to cover a girl's cab fare is comparable to straight up p4p. As the site says, it's economics and is a courtesy in third world countries. Just like paying for a round of drinks if you're the inviter and she's the invitee.

If a girl takes a 30min - 1 hour cab ride through traffic to see me, so I don't have to leave my hotel or sit through traffic, I don't have a problem paying her fare. I always offer to pay it, even if she doesn't ask.

This is a similar thing in Peru, Brazil and other places.

I've paid 50 dollar or more cab rides on multiples occasions for girls in Rio.

Last time I did this, a fine favela girl with a smoking hot body let me fuck her raw for hours and hours. We only stopped when she got sore and couldn't take it anymore.

Seriously though, unless she is from a rich family (there are VERY few of these relative to the general population, since Latin America has a medieval wealth distribution), 50 dollars is a week of labor at a boring job in bad conditions. That's if she even has a job.

Longest cab ride was 7.3miles in Bogota. Paíd a WAY too expensive $3.50 for it.

Order her an Uber so it doesn't feel transactional or if you think she might be trying to get extra money out of you. Any date in America will cost you over 10x the price of an Uber there so it should really not be an issue.

In the DR or Colombia, I will gladly pay for girls' taxis--but a lot of times girls will ask ex-ante if you will pay for their taxi--however, they then happily pay for it themselves without hesitation upon arrival, and again when they depart.

I hypothesize it's because they just want to confirm that you're not a cheapskate, and/or actually want to see them.

At least with "middle"-ish class girls. Taxi fare doesn't ping the richer girls' radars, and I actively try and avoid "barrio"/hoodrat girls and/or single moms.

Lower socioeconomic girls are more hellbent on making sure you deliver on your "Pagas para Taxi" futures contract. However, on the off-chance that I do accidentally have a "barrio" girl over, I'm more than happy to pay for a taxi ASAP to get her away from me.

One time, I had just gotten back to the States from the DR or somewhere, and went out with an American girl. On the way back, we dropped me off at my apartment first (I lived slightly closer downtown); I went to hand her maybe $30-$40 to cover the extant fare up to my apartment, and to cover the rest of the way to hers. I didn't mind, she was a nice, generally conservative girl (daughter of two East Asian immigrants)--she was a doctor and we didn't exactly compare W-2's, but I was/am fairly certain my income was materially higher at the time.

She made a face at me like I just farted and said something like "Thanks, but I can pay my own taxi," and shut the car door.

Fortunately, I banged her a date later, but still--made me miss Latin American girls for a moment.

Be careful in havana as the girls pad the cab estimate. $10 to $15 should be maximum depending on benefits received We you meet a cuban girl casually ask where she lives and if it is far. Most collectivos cost under 1 CUC so dont feel so bad about negotiating hard

Look, if you're paying cab fare, buying drinks, paying for ice cream and movies, you have no game. You're a super chump if you pay the way to take a girl to the beach with you.

Basically, if you spend any money on a girl and live on more than $300 a month in Colombia, you're not a real player.

After a bit of time here.....The taxi pickup and pay scenario has revealed a lot to me about the girl I am casually dating or hooking up with in Colombia.......

1. The girl who says she lives in Suba or Ave Boyaca and you give her 20 mil and then you see on the Tappsi summary of the ride she took the taxi to the nearest Transmilenio to pocket 10-15 mil.

2. The sweet girls that will never ask and even fight you on taking money for a taxi refusing even in the pouring rain and will walk 10-15 blocks to catch a bus or Transmilenio without question....(Keeper girls)

3. The girls that have there own personal taxi drivers in their whatsapp.... aka /pimp/novio/amigo con derechos/cousin/lesbian dyke lover.

4. The Strata 6 girls that call there own Uber, or better yet have there own driver to come pick them up at your apartment.....

The Taxi situation in Colombia is pure gold another huge plus on living here!

I think it is a bit extreme to say that spending a single dollar on a girl means that you are not a player/have zero game.

In my opinion, it depends on the context of the situation, and whether you are relying on money to get the bang, or whether it is incidental.

Money that is very significant to some of these girls is pocket change to me. While I usually prefer upper class girls where it's not an issue, banging favela/barrio girls that are dynamite in the sack never gets old. If she needs a taxi or can't pay half of a nice meal, I don't think twice about it.

Nowhere in Havana costs 15 CUC for a girl to go alone. I've seen girls go from near the Melia Cohiba all the way to Playas del Este for 6 CUC at 2am in the morning to give you an idea.

A long term ex of mine use to pay 2 CUC for a private taxi from her place in Cuatro Camino to my place close to the Melia Cohiba. Keep in mind they will know people with cars that aren't taxis who will take them really cheap.

We just pay more being visible tourists. Grabbing a taxi outside of any disco late at night is asking to get gauged or if the girl lives in a shadier area. I.e. deep into Havana Vieja.

Even from Guanabo to Vedado at 3am I paid 10 CUC to get back with 4 people in the car (2 guys, 2 girls) A lot of it has to do with who you are hanging out with. If the Cubans suspect you are with a hustler or hooker they will take you for a ride price wise. I've gotten smoked more than a few times when I've gone out with tourist friends of mine.

The further you go into Miramar the more you are going to get gauged.

I just set it up so I take maquinas to anywhere in day and night. I'll take an actual taxi home though usually unless I stay out all night and catch a maquina.

I agree though that a lot of girls will try to pad the cost if they think they can. I'd never give a girl $15 for a taxi in Havana. I'd reluctantly give 10 in some cases but generally speaking $3-$5 as we know damn well they are taking the collectivos.

Sheesh the taxis there are cheap. Im used to a starting fare of about 7$ for 2 blocks.
