Musical Tribes & Subcultures

Let's just pretend I was raised by wolves, under a rock, on a desert island. On Mars, or something.

What sort of tribes are there in contemporary music?
i.e. what would my musical choices be if I wanted to associate myself with a sexual stereotype, subculture, or tribe?

Beating on drums and chanting as you dance around a fire. What else?

Now if you wait a few days I will create a tribal chief game data sheet. It will include:

How to pull from a tribal feast?

Keeping your outfit on point. Feather hat, mocassins, bone necklace, tomahawk, bow and arrows

How to take a bride after you defeat your rival tribe?

How to bring a girl to your teepee?

Is your war horse beta?

Off the top of my head:

Electronic Dance Music (Rave culture)

Jam Band Music (later day hippies)

Country Music

Hip Hop

Pop (Katy Perry, Meghan Trainor, etc. You could argue there's no real tribe among the fans of this music, but its a major genre)

Heavy Metal

There are probably a bunch of smaller genres, with a dedicated following, but I don't know if that's sufficient to count as a tribe, with its own internal culture and style. I think you have to have enough people as fans to create a viable culture where you could hang out and join the group by dressing right and being able to talk about the music.

I guess I'm getting old. I identified as the kind of guy who listened to stoner music in the 80's, and hung out with people like me, but I no longer have any interest in connecting with a music oriented culture like this. (I did see a lot of great concerts back in the day)

I'm the tower of power, too sweet to be sour. I'm funky like a monkey. Sky's the limit and space is the place!
