The problem with young famous singer with a huge pre-teen and teen audience is that once that youth milestone passes , the audience is gone, just like a girl will get over Dora the Explorer once she grows up, Cyrus has to keep doing shit like this, her audience that was 8-12 many years ago is now is grow up already 18-22. Fixed that for you. Cyrus has never recorded one song she wrote entirely herself. In her Miley Cyrus persona she's recorded 89 songs. Of those, she has a writing credit on 31 -- just over 1 in every 3. You can't tell how much input a single writer has just from the writing credits, of course, but, of those 31, I could see only 6 where she is listed as one of two writers -- i.e. signalling that she had significant input into writing the song in only 6 cases of her 89 total songs. And in none of those cases was the track released as a single, which indicates she doesn't know how to write stuff that sells. She'd merely be paid to do what she is told, having next to no creative or artistic freedom/input; for if she did, it probably wouldn't sell.

I think if she was really controlled her songs wouldn't suck. "We rolling..." etc are very boring songs. There's no story development, just a statement and restatement of a fact.

The '60s group the Monkees was an example of a group that was manufactured but they had serious songwriters and the songs are still listenable. Last Train to Clarksville, I'm a Believer....

If she has that kind of cash it's unlikely she'll retain much or any of it.

If her descent into depravity is being dictated to her by her management, she is likely getting it eroded away by a combination of inflated fees, drug use, and "looking like I'm living large" expenses. Anyone who lacks sufficient will to stand up to her promoters and say "Fuck you, I'm not wearing a fucking dildo and fake tits on stage" necessarily lacks sufficient will to question where the money's going beyond the next dime bag of blow.

If she's in full control of her image and doing it deliberately as a means of "self expression", it reflects a severely damaged psyche that lacks sufficient long term thought and planning to manage money. Or it reflects a likely future where said money is pissed away: if Cyrus is doing this of her own free will and choice it only indicates a severe addiction to attention with probably a concordant and severely damaged self-image and self-esteem beyond what a crowd gives her. When the crowds stop coming, she likely would have to fall back on drug habits to get the adrenaline high she previously got from the attention.

Superficially Cyrus appears to be trying to run the Madonna road: keep shocking them until you've got sufficient cash to retire somewhere poofy and pretentious like the south of France and release the odd uninteresting album now and then. Cyrus's problem is that Madonna's real talent was neither her singing nor her body: it was her capacity to reinvent herself and use the (decidedly female, or perhaps decidedly feminine) trait of leveraging other people's talents and resources to her own ends. Cyrus doesn't seem able to do that since she's basically controlled by her management and seems pretty used to that idea since it's the paradigm she grew up with.
