Info on Gold Coast, Cairns / beach towns on the east coast of Australia

Hey used the search function and couldn't find anything that was what I was looking for but I'm on a mobile so maybe there is. Either way hope some of you guys could help me out.
I'v been stuck in a hostel in Perth the last 5 months and it and the city itself suck shit in general. I came to make money after an epic 5 months in Asia and I have.
The plan was either to fuck off to cambodia to teach english for $10 an hour or so I hear quoted on the Internet but I figure as I'm here and unlikely to return may as well check out what the east has to offer.
I'm heading to the Gold Coast first likely be staying in surfers paradise. Any info would be appreciated.
P.s. I would never come to Australia out of choice when SEA is just there.

i was chatting with another Roosher who is currently in Australia on a WHV working a tradie job. Hoping he can chime in with his thoughts but i find out today he got banned for something...
I go down to the GC every now and then for the surf, it's a good break from the hectic life in Korea, where I am at the moment. Tons of backpackers and WH types down there working all sorts of jobs, most of them in the hospitality/food industry.
What are you looking to do? Just stack a lotta bread before you move onto SEA? The GC is not where you go to make money. It's where you go to surf and lounge around on the beach. Most of the options available to you on the GC are going to be waiting tables, mixing drinks at a bar, or some kind of hotel work.

Lots of backpackers going up & down the coast there in QLD. There's seasonal jobs like picking bananas if you're looking for $$$.

I work in hotels but hate it so hopefully be able to find something in GOLD COAST. I v heard accomadation is pretty cheap if your staying long term.
I just want a place with decent nightlife and a place I can bring chicks back to not a cock blocking hostel as well as getting net Flix or love film. The amount of TV shows I have missed out on is huge. And I'm getting a ps3. Gta 5 is all new to me. I'm seriously looking forward to my media more than im about heading back to SEA.
I got about 3000 saved so hoping to last until I find a job if I go below 1000 I'm fucking off to Cambodia.

I lived on the GC for almost 2 years. Moved over there after finishing university. Place can get old rather quickly, but for a short binge it can be quite fun. Nightlife is good but if you're looking to save cash I don't think its the right place for you. It's a huge tourism spot and prices are high there. If you're sitting around in a hostel watching TV you'll just be mowing through cash for nothing.

Probably more job opportunities in Perth or Brisbane. I wouldn't bother with GC unless you will go surfing regularly.

It's too late now. Tickets have been booked. I will give it a shot. I'm sick of Perth. $9 for a fucking beer and the internet here is shit. I've shafted 2 birds In 5 months. Enough is enough.
If it sucks then I will give Cambodia a shot.

Sounds like you have taken a similar path as me. I spent four months travelling SEA ran out of money and am also living in a hostel and working a shitty job in Perth.
I agree about the nightlife being poor but I find the city okay lifestyle wise. Just trying to keep my head down save some money then head to Indonesia or the Philippines.
Definitely prefer Asia to here for obvious reasons but its definitely a good place to save a bit of money in comfortable conditions. Been here three months and am getting itchy feet though!

Well I'm certain you'll enjoy the Coast more than Perth, it's pretty hard not to. Assuming you have an Aussie passport you should be able to find work pretty easily. I got a summer job working at Dreamworld and it paid pretty well, although this was quite a few years ago. I think peak season has just passed but give it a shot anyway since they're always looking for seasonal workers around this time and you'll be preferred over the backpackers since they'll have no visa issues with you. Same goes for all the other theme parks out that way.

Getting a job at a themepark now that could be interesting. I have the one year work visa and have 6 months left I was close to leaving Australia all together the shit Perth has given me. 2 bangs, A psycho Hong Kong bitch determined to fuck with my shit and just a generally boring shit lifestyle.

Any ideas about venues good for gaming opportunities in Gold Coast while enjoying the main tourist attractions?
The theme parks, wild life sanctuaries and beaches seem to be the main places there. But with 3 days, which ones would you hit up?
Thank you for the suggestions.
