Luke Cage on Netflix

A bulletproof black man is one hell of a political statement.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

@chowderhead haha my bad I tried to leave out any major details.

*Spoilers*

I'm legitimately disappointed. This guy was a genuine bad ass compared to the other I'm self righteous or "let me just be a fucking buffoon" characters on the show. Sad to say even the main antagonist after just came off as old school and corny to me. Would make sense though, a true alpha male with style, charisma and backbone killed by a 90lb "I don't need no man" fake hair wearing bitch.

I've never been one to suggest an underlying agenda, but it's blatantly obvious the goal they're trying to push when the main beta male character is surrounded by "alpha" females. Fuck out of here!

Are you saying Luke was beta?

As for the show, started out decent but ended on a whimper. DiamondBack and Shades were corny. Cottonmouth shouldn't have went out like that and I never read much Luke Cage, but he wasn't depicted how I remember him from the (old)comics. Here he was like a hood Captain America, whereas in the comics he was more like a hero for the right price, hence the name heroes for hire.

Absolutely. Dude was badass first few episodes then after that he started to become what i'd consider betafied.

No clue, CD. I try to keep my head clear of politics these days, but it's hard to ignore how political Luke Cage is by his very nature. Just saying that it makes me chuckle a little bit. Imagine if there was a bulletproof black man? I think there is a lot you could do with such a character despite how simple that attribute is. That reminds me of superman in some ways. Superman is essentially a god, but all the writers don't play up that aspect. Instead, they have him fighting dudes wearing leotards with stupid names. Is that what a god does? [Image: icon_lol.gif]

Haha that was funny. I get the political themes LC was trying to make, but for me these are worthless in the real world. Black men are not and will never will be bullet proof. I could never grasp my head around these concepts of super hero minorities bringing hope to a generation. It's like people hoping Daredevil will bring hope/confidence to actual blind people.

*spoiler*

But I could just be bitter they killed off Cotton Mouth lol

So I've read an article that the stunt coordinator won an Emmy for Luke Cage. This is an obvious PC move. What stunts were notable in the show? Dude walked around taking bullets. Besides a handful of decent fight scenes in the prison and one bad fight scene in the last episode there weren't any stunts of note at all.

The only person attached to that show who deserves an Emmy is the wardrobe faggot/wench.

I can browse the Carharrt catalogue or rack ad infinitum. It just reeks of testosterone.
