Is Octoberfest a carousel rider's destination?

I presume so, just as any other European party would be, but mostly for younger backpacker types and college kids.

I know a 34 yr old carousel rider going, says "It's going to be crazy!"

- without the live-in boyfriend, who she suggests (but does not say) is her fiancee. No actual wedding date.

Translation : he hasn't asked her, she assumes he will, but wants one last carousel ride before she calls it quits.

I don't know what her BF is thinking but I wager he's either a clueless simp or flat out doesn't care since he's got no plans to marry her.

Figured most women would go someplace stereotypically "romantic" for foreign cock. But why Octoberfest? Anybody been?

Once I carousel rider, always a carousel rider.

Any overseas location with a festival type vibe is bound to draw them in too.

Just go for a jaunt into the forest behind that big statue and try not to trip over the people shagging.

Yeah, its a bloodbath. The hostels are booked solid almost a year in advance in anticipation of chubby Australian, Canadian and American backpackers on a trip of self discovery.

Consider going to an Octoberfest event in a country (not Germany or Austria) for German expats. Speak German. Drink beer.

I have never been to the Octoberfest but know Germans in the diaspora who have been. They say nice to go once, but otherwise it's a pain. Too crowded, even for people who like crowds. Find a German club in another country and go to their Octoberfest event.

Yeah a good friend who worked security for a top end Munich nightclub was managing a security team for Octoberfest. Keep in mind that this event plugs so much money into Munich that everyone there loves to hate it. Double edged sword.

I show up and he takes me on a tour through the site before the big day. There are thousands of people setting up and we just found a vantage point to watch all the efficient chaos. Its great watching Germanic people work.

Opening day we head over to where the mayor will be tapping the first keg. Its already rowdy and only the hottest of drindl wearing blondes are around (plus politicians, etc) to get in front of the cameras. The keg gets tapped, the first steins are poured and within 5 minutes thousands of litres have been drunk. I partied with some of his friends and it was a blast, getting day drunk with a bunch of Germans who are all caught up in the big moment.

So my advice: Go but go early in the festival. Avoid 'Australian and Italian week'. Plan very far ahead and get good accommodation.

Or hit up another Bavarian city. I went to Nurenburg once to visit a friend during harvest season and it was just as fun. More so even, as people are happy that a foreigner is visiting somewhere in Germany besides Munich during this time of the year.

Yeah, I Google searched for some Octoberfest vids and there's quite a bit of debauchery in some of those tents. Makes even more sense now.

Australian and Italian week? I didn't know it broke down like that. When is each of those? Or is it the same retarded week...?

....I can almost bet that sad carousel rider will be there during Italian week - so predictable.

I'm from Australia, and can admit that Aussie men are some of the biggest idiots around. The only ones that are worst are Italians and the French so that week sounds like hell.

Carousel riders trying to "discover themselves" by jumping on as many cocks as possible are attracted to any mainstream festival event so yes, Octoberfest is going to be crawling with them like a scene from the Walking Dead.

I've been - it was fun for a couple of days to check off the bucket list, but after a couple of days it gets old. Its a pretty big sausagefest.

As I suspected - more dudes than chicks; Seems like the perfect place for a carousel rider looking for some pre-marital validation....

....until the divorce, when it starts all over.

I've been. Its a pretty shitty game destination for dudes:

- Bad ratios
- Too high levels of drunkenness due to people drinking from 10am (yes, drunk girls are good - but when theyre so sloppy they cant stand up its TOO drunk). Also pretty hard to keep your own game tight with that much drinking going on
- Expensive
- Full of Germans
- The beer halls aren't as sociable as a normal bar/club. You're pretty much sat at one table for most of it, getting beer served by table service. Far less opportunity to roam around hitting on girls.
- Bad logistics: most accommodation is way overpriced for it, so young people tend to be staying further away. Makes it hard to close even with girls you're making out with at it

A girl can get laid easily anywhere she wants, though. Any moderately attractive girl who wants to have sex is going to have no problem going home with a guy in a bar/club most places in the world. Oktoberfest is no better or worse than any generic European weekend city drinking break for that. It is however nowhere near as sexualised as somewhere like Spring Break in Cancun or a chavvy Mediterranean island like Kavos.

zatara's post is spot on. Don't go specifically to game and expect sexy blondes in dirndls being all over you. However, if you are in the area anyway I suggest to check it out. Go with low expectations and enjoy the unique atmosphere. Approach in a calm way, then the drunk competition will be a joke. Absolutely don't go with a large group. Pick a weekday if possible.

I was seriously considering going this year, but I'm not so sure after reading this thread.

Is there anyway to find cheap accommodation during the festival?

The best I've found is 60 euros per night in a campsite, and you have to share your tent with another dude!

That price does include breakfast but I guess most people will skip that after a heavy drinking session.

The whole thing sounds a bit retarded, unless I'm a 20 year old backpacking American /Aussie/westerner looking to "find myself" after college. What legit attraction would there be for a 34 year old woman going with her besties while the boyfriend stays home? (....aside from foreign cock in an overseas venue.) This person never traveled much so could be trying to make up for lost time.

Zatara list "full of Germans" as a negative of Oktoberfest...

Not really sure what he's expecting with that one.

Ah, well its expected of course. But its still a negative to consider for anyone thinking about going to it. The same way I'd warn anyone going to Scotland to expect dour weather, or to Ethiopia to expect high levels of poverty. Its expected and obvious, but its still something to keep in mind when weighing up pros/cons of a place.

(edit: with apologies to any German speaking guys on this forum of course. I just think German girls are one of the worst in Europe for gaming/fun/joie de vivre.)

Germans are socially awkward and extremely skeptical of approaches by those outside existing social circles. An American woman has a bitch shield, a German woman has a 700-meter ice wall guarded by 50 men of the fucking Night's Watch.

The country is a complete waste of time.

Wtf? Stupid generalisation. Maybe you're the one being socially awkward.

Anyway: I suggest to avoid Oktoberfest. No good place to game.
Better go the clubs, but mind the dresscode.
Munich can be quite special when it comes to this.

I'm not defending Germany here.
I'm just out the juxtaposition that the thread is about a German event, based on German culture.. in Germany.

But the fact that Germans will be there, is a negative aspect.

It's an honest assessment after nearly a decade living here (NRW, HH). I've written extensively on it. Great country to live in with a high standard of living and plenty of lucrative jobs, but when it comes to meeting and dating women, I think Denmark, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic, the UK - practically any other country in Europe - would provide a far greater return on investment for the average man.

Schreib mir ne PN wenn du in HH bist, kann dir persönlich zeigen! Eiskalte Kartoffeln in den meisten Ecken. Bayern geht so.

Not my experience. At least with German women travelling. Maybe they let their hair down when leaving the mother(father?)land.

I have gotten a few bangs from Oktoberfest. I wouldn't say that girls are going there to pick up, but get some alcohol in any German girl and she will be on your dick before sun down.

Oktoberfest is great because you (or should I say the girls) are forced to be social, squeezing your way in between two groups of women and forcing them to talk to you isn't weird like it would be in a bar / nightclub. It's just Oktoberfest.

Every time I was doing thing. Getting there early (11am), going to any tent that is not the Hofbrau house and then just finding the table with the hottest girls on it and going and sitting with them. Then drinking with them until they give in and let me take them back to my hotel which was just 1 street back from Der Weisen.

The less fucks you give, the more fucks you get.
