Croatia vs Montenegro (Summer)

Hey all,

Just stumbled onto this site a few weeks and have been reading alot of the threads, nice work guys!

I have a dilemma: I am planning a week at the end of July to go to a beach and i would like to go somewhere with Central and EE girls. From what I have seen it looks like Hvar or Budva are my best bets. But besides reading that both are great I can not decide. What do yall recommend as far as quality of girls, how easy, english speaking, where they are from, but also the beach/culture, cost, and nightlife? Another main point would be guy/girl ratio cause I would like to avoid sausage fests! Do either have specific dealbreakers or moneymakers? Also, I am a white guy but tall, tan, and fit if that would make a difference.

I am also open to other places such as Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, etc. I just wanna go to a beach with a bunch of quality EE girls.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I've also been looking for a place to park for 2 weeks along the Black Sea. Hvar and Budva look like the places to be if your main goal is to party your ass off with wall to wall tourists, but I'd like to find a place that still retains some of the country's culture where I can meet the local women as well. Hvar and Budva make me think of Dewey Beach (a reference for the DC guys) in terms of hordes of drunken college kids. One of the things that makes Rio de Janeiro so great is that it's got everything a tourist is looking for, as in beaches, nightlife and women, but it's also a cosmopolitan city where tourists will never outnumber the locals. Maybe not the greatest beaches, but unlimited options for whatever game you're after.
For these reasons I'm looking closely at:

Varna, Bulgaria
Constanta, Romania
Odessa, Ukraine

There's going to be mixed reviews about wherever you're looking to go, so ultimately you have to decide what your priorities are and go with your gut in the end. If it sucks, leave... that's why it's called traveling.

Would love to hear the low down Lumiere. Was thinking of going here myself in July.

Brazmerican - Great Dewey Beach reference, same applies to Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. But like 10x larger, at least.
By the way, Croatia is on the Adriatic. Black Sea resorst are in Bulgaria and Romania, although in Romania the beach is much worse, and Romanians themselves like to drive down to Bulgaria.
Varna is a good choice for a beach town in Bulgaria, if you want to avoid the noisy resorts. Burgas not so much.

K-man,

How is Varna, Bulgaria for girls?

Is it just a huge tourist slop fest? Or smooth?

I am not sure if you have broken the place down before, if you haven't, data sheets would be appreciated.

On another note, how is Plovdiv in July?

Ghosttown, or good move?

Thanks for the props, K-Man! Will do some more research on Varna. Any recommendations on an area to stay in Varna? I'm still curious about Constanta as a city... don't really care about the beaches all that much since I already live around some of the best beaches in the world! (Buzios, Brazil)

In Varna, stay at Yo Ho Hostel

Cool place. All the bands stay there when they are touring as they even have a live rehersal space in the basement (does not interfere with sleep - dont worry)

Pirate theme'd too - garrrrrrr

Nearby, opposite new yorker, there is a branch of a small bulgarian chain restaurant called 'Happy'. The grilled sausages with mash potatoes and beer is great and cheap as hell.

Yeah, at Happy you get 3 pieces of meat called "kebapche" with mashed potatoes for 5 BGN which is like $3. And a large draft beer is another $1.5 bringing your total bill (with tip) to around $5 for a good meal. And the waitressess are dressed in Hooters-like outfits.

Since people asked for info on Varna too, and I don't want to hijack the thread, I will start another thread specifically with data sheets on Bulgaria.

There is a lot of EE action going on at the moment and am trying to put some kind of mini itinerary together. I have got 1 month and would like to spend about 10 days in each place. Hopefully I will be able to get a cheap apartment in each city. I will be travelling throughout July. So I'm thinking these 3 places but am open to suggestions.

Skopje, Macedonia
Budva, Montenegro
Hvar, croatia

Any thoughts, what to expect? I am slightly weary that these might be major tourist hotspots and my game is going to suffer as a result.
On the other hand there could be lot's of horny holiday makers and locals to chase.

In Skopje - hardly. The other two, perhaps.
But if you are after holiday makers, the biggest concentration in the summer is probably in Turkey. Especially as people skip Egypt and Tunisia this year, the resorts in Turkey are overflowing with Russians, French, and generally people from all over Europe. Resorts like Antalya or Kusadasi easily have several hundred thousand tourists at any given time in peak season.

For locals, on the other hand, Skopje should be good. The other two - not so much.

So take your pick.

I'm definitely not going for the tourist action but am not opposed if it means there are other nationalities up for a good time and it is NOT a sausage fest... and defo no Brits abroad type shenanigans. I want to go somewhat of the beaten track but not so much I end up in a dead end town. The idea of going to Turkey, or any of the Greek islands is my idea of pure misery.

This thread has some useful info so I revived it. Would it be worth visiting either country in February? I'm tentatively planning a trip then with a friend. He is much better w/ fundage than I, and wants to hit Croatia or Ethiopia. It's hard to ignore Montenegro since it tops Naughty Nomads list.

I'm not sweating the cold, (no pun intended) but need to know the pussy factor with snow on the ground, and the chance of hooking up in a two week time frame.
