Is it acceptable to wear moccasins with socks? I've most of the time worn them together, but it has recently come to my attention that not everyone approves of the combination, what do you think?
Are Moccasins with socks acceptable?
Tough one.
You want "no-show" socks.
Just wear whatever feels comfortable. This time of year, especially in places where it gets really hot, people tend to wear moccasins without socks.
Occasionally loafers are referred to as moccasins, usually by non-English speakers translating incorrectly. Socks with loafers optional, with moccasins, generally no.
Not a shoe expert. But please, anything but white socks with shoes.
I haven't owned a pair of white socks since my mother bought them for me when I was a child.
White socks are a no go all around.

I'll assume this question is in regards to when one wears shorts, since jeans/ pants would make no difference unless you have white tube socks on underneath. When it comes to boat shoes, deck shoes, etc., if that was the style you want to wear then you should spend the money on a top end shoe and skip out on socks. Value brands are not very good for walking and will tear your feet up. My dad is pushing 70 and has been without socks for the last 25 years in Rockports. I've seen my nephew in Sperry. It's not for me, but unless you don't give a damn, they look better without.
I think white socks are correct for tennis shoes. Now granted, too many men wear tennis shoes when they should be wearing something else, but there are times when tennis shoes are called for. I always thing dark socks look funny with tennis shoes.

If you are wearing short pants, then no socks with moccasins/boat shoes/sandals, ever. No exceptions. If it's too cold to go without socks, you shouldn't be wearing shorts anyway, so socks are OK. Did you really need to ask?
Haha. Be a rebel! Do it!
It is acceptable as long as you are wearing cargo shorts and sporting a fanny pack.
After six weeks of not wearing socks in Thailand, the brand new main pair of shoes I had brought along (light weight canvas shoes) looked like they'd suffered a coupe of years of heavy (ab)use.
For those of us who sweat a lot in the summer the very short (almost but not quite) "no-show" socks that RockHard mentioned are sometimes a better option. Choice in shoes matter as well of course, but personally in hot climate I sweat almost as much in open sandals as in a light pair of shoes.

The only normal (black) socks I own are for suits. The other time I wear variations of this

That is an absolute NEVER! Under any circumstances do you wear VISIBLE socks with loafers, if you are like me and have loafers which usually rub against The top of your foot and are uncomfortable then you need to purchase discrete dress socks which fit snugly on the edges of your foot and cannot be seen.
P. S. While we are on topic of fashion disasters, never wear brown shoes with a black belt and viceversa.
