Does anyone have any experience converting their American Express card from the US to some other country using their website?

It seems like an easy way to build new credit when you move to a new country that they offer the program for. I'm tempted to do it, but i'll be moving soon so i'll have to hold onto the card for three months prior to the change.
Anyone ever do it? Was it worth it?
