Anyone watch Kung Fury?

I watched it and figured sooner or later someone is going to shout misogyny over this movie. Personally i liked it, very over the top and hilarious.

I watched the movie and it seemed like it was a horrible hack job of what would be a decent movie. It was like they cut out an hour of plot and left in thirty minutes of stunts and awesomeness. Which would ordinarily be fine, but without time for plot you ended up with here was random stuff going on like:

'Hey, this is Thor.'
'I am Thor. I will help you.'
'Thanks.'

'This is Hitler's speech.'
'Kill him!'
'Kill the Kung Fury! Here is a bird!'
'I am a robot for no reason.'

Also, going after Hitler is just so... eh, cliche.

I'd love to see this redone in a full length motion picture. Not sure if I want the actors to be better or worse.

I remember when this was being crowdfunded they were going for a full length movie, looks like they only got as far as the short film...too bad, but it explains the plot holes.

Maybe you haven't seen enough 80s Action flicks to understand this movie. They usually were full of plot holes, bad dialogues and lots of clichés.

Kung Fury is obviously about making fun of those movies, so they were making dialogues like that ON PURPOSE.

That's the reason why the movie is so funny, it's so cliche'd that its over the top. It is parodying itself and goes with the the theme "if you don't get it we aren't going to explain it to you."
I've shown it to a couple of friends who about 10 years younger then me and they didn't understand many of the 80's references. They did like the movie however.

I thought it was supposed to be funny, and it was likeable, but it didn't make me laugh. Pretty sedate and lifeless. I liked it better when it was just a trailer.

It's like Danger 5, it's all about the references.

Hipsters, millenias and under 35s aren't going to get it.

This is so funny to read their reaction to this awesomeness.

Like Cactus' comment above.

Watching it now, seeing all the stuff from the 80's is great, the brick phones, metal soundtrack, hair styles, huge boomboxes, shitty beige computers, and the vhs tape screwing up (I think because they couldn't afford the fight scene?) is all bringing me back.

I'm really liking the crappy dialogue and funky storyline.

A good piece of 80s Americana...made by Swedes?
If anything it should have been shorter - 16-20 mins would have been perfect.

But good attempt.

I'm talking about the editing and pacing. Like the fight scene with Kung Fury at the end vs the Nazi soldiers, I got that it was a homage to side-scrolling games, which I've played, but to actually sit through it was just bad. Just him walking left, then right, and laying out dudes, for a good 6-7 minutes (again, just like a side-scroller, camera is fixed, same background). So much filler. That fight scene was like "Why does this feel like I'm waiting at the dentist's."

That one scene is one-fourth of the whole thing. It's only a 30 minute long film.

I do genuinely respect the team behind this for putting in the effort and time to get it put together, and making it watchable. Pretty high production values and the soundtrack fit.

Bloodsport.

We watched that non stop as kids, one of my friends would beat on his sister as like 'stand in' for him to reenact the fight scenes. As an adult he's a muay thai champion and trainer.

Loved it. Wish it was a full movie though with a bit more developed plot. But I was laughing a lot during it. The blond viking had a manly face and the lead looked just like a young Johnny Depp, and he directed and wrote the short too. Outside of the movie he doesn't look like Depp though.

Here is the music video sung by the greatest singer of all time,

David Hasselhoff.

And there is a game too. Which looks like Streets of Rage 2 but more animation per movement than that game.
