Try a streaming site. There's tons of them.

Can someone tell me what the fuck is happening through the series?

It will deffinitely be elaborated on in the next episode.

I saw the Prison thing coming as MR Robot has taken over Elliot before and created false realities for him and us the viewer.

The popular theory is he is in prison for hacking his therapists boyfriend and taking his dog. (Season 1)

I mostly enjoyed the first season but I gave up on the second after the first three. Aside from being slower than the first season it just seemed to delve deeper and deeper into Elliot's serious mental illness.

Thanks guys!

Ulterior, that explaination clears up a couple of things. Thanks man!

MikeS, I think so too. It's like there are too many sub plots all going at the same time that you get lost what the show is about.....not to mention that it talks too much about Eliott's mental illness and distracts attention from the rest of the show. It's like "so what? Is this show about a mentally ill person now?"

I definitely agree...

The first season was about a hacker on a mission, the thoughts in his mind behind the hack, the real world consequences etc. Now it's just everyday tale of a guy fucked up in the head. His best friend who is fucked up in her head too and some FBI agent bitch who is fucked up in her head too.

I guess the new agenda is "tell people that having a mental illness is okay and normal. If you don't have one then you're weird".

On the other hand, the "tech" elements are largely intellectually insulting.

It certainly makes an attempt not to dumb down the material, but anyone knows that brute force hacks are old hat and that virtually any modern system has safeguards against repeated password attempts.

I've been watching the Season 1, there are actually many realistic hacks and I found it interesting, especially the social engineering aspect. Yes brute force attacks were stupid and don't work in real life on apps like facebook, and phones cannot be hacked so easily. That irritated me when they put that in the first episodes, but later on we can see some realistic hacks like the dropped USBs containing a msf payload, the Caller ID spoofing, and others I forgot. With tech security becoming harder and harder to break, social engineering is probably the most important aspect of a hacker nowadays. Unless you're a team of Chinese or corporations who can afford Zero-day exploits. For example I hacked my ex-gf's macbook pro remotely (was angry that she blocked me) by luring her with a fake Job interview from Linkedin. Simple reverse tcp payload disguised in a "proprietary company software" and she took the bait. The "hardest" part was to craft the job requirements and creating a realistic linkedin with tons of common connections with the target company.
