If it's cotton the shrinkage happens mostly during the drying process.

Wash in cold water with no detergent, then put it in the dryer on high.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Hey Rex, how many times is enough to shrink a T as much as it can shrink? Is just one time in the dryer all you need or will a few times get it even smaller?

I've had success with boiling water, then cold water, then dryer (in that order).

In my experience most of the shrinkage happens during the first time you dry it with high heat. It may shrink a little bit more after that, but not much.

He's right you know. Since I started going a year and a half ago I can barely fit into some of my old medium shirts anymore.

Wash it, dry it on medium (just in case this turns out to be just enough).

If it's not, repeat, but dry it on high.

That's always a good feeling. About a year after I starting getting serious and quit being the skinny dude I put on and old suit to go to a weeding. I couldn't even button it. Smiled all the way to the alterations shop.
