I lived in San Diego, and while I agree with you, I got laid all the time in So. Cal. But I was also 22, and now I'm 42. It's not that I don't wish to "hone" the game skills required to bed every girl in Medellin, I just didn't care much for the Paisas. They were nice to look at and were easy to talk to, but the headgames get on my nerves. I'm not a rigid, anal sort of guy by any means; quite the opposite. But if someone makes a date with you and then tells you she's in the taxi on the way, then it's very annoying to sit there with your dick in your hand when she doesn't show up. I know that all the other Gringo studs in Medellin set up 3 dates in case they get flaked on, but I'm too old for that shit.

Some Gringo expats warned me when I got to Medellin that all the girls (yes, all is a strong word) are shallow and flaky. I would like to think they were wrong, but most everything I experienced confirmed that. I'm not going to stoop to saying I want honesty from a girl or any naive whoreshit of the sort. But just having the fucking decency to text and say you're bailing on the date would be way too much to ask from any Medellin Paisa. At least make up some shit about your momma being sick or having to wash your dog. I liked Colombian girls very much, just not the Paisas as much because of their mental issues. And if someone tells girls they own 3 corporations, 2 mansions, and a yacht to get in their pants, that's fine, too. I certainly take no issue with them for doing so. It's just not my style.

Maybe it's beta to just be yourself and expect some chick to show up when she says she's meeting you. Maybe I'm the problem here, and I'm just doing it the wrong way. But it's the way that suits me. I had a tremendous time in Colombia; it's why I'm coming back. I got laid in Colombia by way better quality than these obese pigs in the U.S. I went hiking through the Cocorra, and boating to Pablo's old lakehouse, and was in a chiva bike race on a country highway one night drunk in the backseat and scared out of my mind and laughing the entire time. A drunk Paisa puked up aguardiente in my boots on the side of my bed, and I fucked her afterwards anyhow because we were naked and her puke mouth was facing the other way. I had so much fun I am friggin' stoked to get back down there. I'm just saying that I want to see something different besides Medellin. If my attitude is wrong, then I'm ok with it. But I still had great fun there and will never regret my time in Medellin.

Guys Colombia is a pretty big country, some guys do very well in Medellin, while others don't (myself included), if you're part of the latter group then just find another city that suits your tastes and where the women treat you better. Some guys like Bogota, some Cali, some really like the Caribbean coast, myself, I prefer the Coffee Zone. I'm a firm believer that Colombia is a country where any guy can find women to hook up with and have a good time, even if you enjoy playing violins in public and especially if you don't have any standards. Brewdog, I'll be down there in ten days, starting in Bogota then hitting up Manizales for the feria then probably Cali, let me know your itinerary and I'll try to meet up with you for some beers and we can complain about the Paisas together.

You do realize that girls from Manizales are also Paisas, don't you? Some people, even those from Medellin, have no clue what a paisa even is and think the paisa region is only the department of Antioquia or just the city of Medellin. The paisa region is actually the departments of Antioquia, where Medellin is, Caldas, where Manizales is (Dash got banned after saying that girls from Manizales are conservative), Risaralda, where Pereira is, Quindio, and parts of Tolima and Valle de Cauca.

I agree with all of this you need a thick skin and you have to double, triple book and want to fuck Pochahantas's lights out very badly to keep steam full ahead. You will however be well rewarded, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Although if I ever lived in Medellin first goal would be to make 5 alpha Colombian male friends to get me into those 10-15 people groups around tables with single girls.

Curious being 42 and drinking and partying all night constantly what kind of physical shape are you in? It isn't a dig I am curious if you can do both well which is a large feat.

Dude, that rocks. The first place I was going to get on the bus to go see is Manizales. I spent a few days towards the end of my last trip in Manizales and Salento and loved the hell out of both. It was right before Christmas and the students were home and hanging out with their parents, etc. But I got a really good vibe from Manizales. I saw redheaded Colombian girls there! I had remembered thinking, "The only thing that could make some of these girls any hotter is if they were redheaded." Well, I found my Colombian ginger paradise.

I loved Salento, too, but was only there for a couple of days and did the backpacker/hostel thing. I'm pretty youthful for my age. Full hair, no gray, 6'0/180#, I went running last night for 6 miles. Ok, I didn't run the entire 6 miles, but I walked/ran it. I dated a 20 year old blonde college girl from England when I was in Ecuador for a month while she was volunteer teaching English. She still thinks to this day that I was 29 (because sometimes I get drunk and lie about petty things).

During my 6 months in Ecuador and Colombia two years ago, I drank every night but two of the nights and only because I had some serious stomach issue in Ecuador. I stay up all night and sometimes start drinking as soon as I get out of bed unless I plan to hike off my hangover. I hiked 18.6 miles one day from Guatape to San Rafael. It kicked my ass, but I made it and then went drinking with some Chiva bike drivers I met at the square which turned into the Chiva bike race along a mountain road. I just do random shit and enjoy the freedom of that. I don't like to make plans; I just go do whatever whenever I feel like it. So, yes. I like to hang out and drink LOTS when I'm on vacation. Goddamn I can't wait!

And WTF is Dash doing talking about the women of Manizales, as if he's been there, as far as I know, the guy spent two weeks on the Caribbean coast about five years ago and hasn't been back, no wonder he was banned!

Ya Manizales is nice, I've only spent a few days there, it could get a bit boring during the week but its the cleanest city I've been to in Colombia and the weather is perfect for me, similar to Bogota's but without the pollution. The major downside of the city is the hills, you're constantly walking up and down there. I also spent sometime in Salento, I think a day trip or may a couple of nights there is a must, a great place to detox after partying hard in a city like Medellin or Cali.

He met some girl in the United States from Manizales and said that from his observations of her, girls from Manizales are conservative. Mixx and the G Manifesto then smacked him around and Roosh then banned him. The girls I have met from Manizales haven't been conservative at all, although I met them in Medellin and have never been to any part of Caldas.

I think that Medellin is one of those cities that gets better the longer you stay and build up your social circle, improve your Spanish and start dating girls. As has been written on here many times, its not the best place for a short visit if chasing girls online is your goal as you'll inevitably get frustrated by the flakiness. Since I know you personally I can say that a guy like yourself would do well there; you have the looks, are in good shape, dress well and you aren't an idiot, I'm sure that if you joined a local BJJ or MMA gym you'd make some good local friends who would likely introduce you to their circle of friends.

Classic Dash! I still haven't dated any girls from Manizales but hope to this time around, so I can't really comment if they are conservative or not. I did bring a black girl from Buenaventura there for the feria a couple of years ago and old people were literally stopping in the streets and staring at us as we walked around, it was a bit weird.

I'm also not looking to rack up a dozen notches a month (well, not after the first month or two anyways hah) but a place where I can access higher quality girls and meet good people.

The weather in Bogota and Cali mostly rules them out for me. I want sunshine and nice (not blazing fucking hot and humid) weather. I'd also like to avoid another mega city like Bangkok.

Medellin sounds like it checks most of my criteria. Lets just hope the girls aren't as much of a pain in the ass as some make them sound.

My number one to screen girls in Medellin no matter how you get the number would be to exchange WhatsApp voice messages to warm them up then call them both all in Spanish before the date. If you can say some bullshit excuse like you are busy this week to meet but you want to Skype video can even be better.

Getting new leads isn't a problem there. Filtering it down is the challenge. The Colombian guys seem very free with their women and expect you to be a player. In that kind of culture the girls need to see some investment to take you seriously in my opinion.

I've only been to Bogota for 3 nights total on 3 different trips, so I don't know much about it. The Medellin expats had all convinced me that it's too cold, too crowded, and the girls are snooty. But I think maybe I should check out Bogota after reading this thread. It seems most of my internet interest is coming from Bogota area.

Chapinero is okay, lots of student bars that can be fun in the early evening but nothing special. La Macarena is also a decent area to check out if you're near centro. The real gold mine in Bogota that nobody ever writes about is the Primera de Mayo area, its the ghetto Zona Rosa of the south and Gringos generally avoid it for good reason as its pretty sketchy. I went there once with Atlantic and we had a good time, tons of trashy chicks down there if that's your thing. Just don't tell your upper class friends from the north that you're going there, they'll think you're insane.

People on here usually never mention Galerias, I was only in that area once after leaving 85 around 3. I think a lot of the clubs in that area go to around 5? It's definitely a bit lower end than 82/85 but be a good thing, pick some apples off the ground instead of climbing the tree.

Is it like going to Bello? Tons of talent but Gringos can't stay after dark? A bartender Paisa chick took me to her apt in Bello and I had such a good time around town that I wanted to go back to hang out, but everyone was adamant that if I went alone I would be raped and killed - but not necessarily in that order.

Medellin seems like a very good choice for long-term living, considering what you are looking for.

It's definitely livable, mostly safe, with some quiet and peaceful areas to rent an apartment in (Laureles, except right on the 70, Laureles-estadio or parts of Poblado), other areas being more animated at night (parque Lleras in Poblado, la 33...).
Nice sweet weather (never cold, though rainy at times, lot of hot sun during the day). Local people polite with foreigners. Plenty of good quality women (requiring game and time, sure). Not expensive (especially food, except if you shop in big shops with imported stuff, like Exito).
Easy to get a residency permit (if I remember well, you can get a long-term visa by just stating that you share your life with a Colombiana, without actually getting married)

Just one thing: in Medellin you probably won't have women in your bed as "easily" as you did in BKK (as a BKK expert that is). I mean, some people coming back from SEA told me that they got so spoiled down there, that they have a hard time re-adapting to other, harder countries.

You do realize that girls from Manizales are also Paisas, don't you? Some people, even those from Medellin, have no clue what a paisa even is and think the paisa region is only the department of Antioquia or just the city of Medellin. The paisa region is actually the departments of Antioquia, where Medellin is, Caldas, where Manizales is (Dash got banned after saying that girls from Manizales are conservative), Risaralda, where Pereira is, Quindio, and parts of Tolima and Valle de Cauca.

I agree for the most part, it really depends on who you ask though. I think that the people in Caldas, Risaralda and Quindio are descendants of "Paisa" pioneers who came from Medellin and settled the land. Where it gets confusing for me is when people say that Paisas refer to any people from the department of Antioquia and generally one would think of these people as fair skinned, white Colombians but if you head to the northern tip of the department in cities such as Turbo and Apartado (Banana country), the people up there are darker and black, I would thus consider them Costenos because isn't the definition of a costeno person is someone from the Caribbean coast? I've never really been able to figure it out. And WTF is Dash doing talking about the women of Manizales, as if he's been there, as far as I know, the guy spent two weeks on the Caribbean coast about five years ago and hasn't been back, no wonder he was banned!

He met some girl in the United States from Manizales and said that from his observations of her, girls from Manizales are conservative. Mixx and the G Manifesto then smacked him around and Roosh then banned him. The girls I have met from Manizales haven't been conservative at all, although I met them in Medellin and have never been to any part of Caldas.

From my observation of small city women in South America... in general, if you meet them in their small city, they will tend to act somewhat conservative, with a stranger or foreigner, because they think a lot about what their neighbors will say. I am pretty sure a typical small city Colombian girl would act somewhat differently in Bogota.

I suppose this is true with every girl anywhere. I learned this, and this is likely old news to some, but I had an epiphany in Ecuador.

Hook up with the girl that's traveling alone. Goddamn if I'd figured this shit out 20 years ago. It's so logical, yet it never occurred to me until 2013.

I got to Ecuador and hung out at hostels. The English girls love me, and I love them and think they're great. I would hang out with groups of 3 to 5 for a few days, then they'd leave and some other group of English girls would pick me up as their American entertainment. I have the same sense of dry humor as the Brits, and they usually say, "We don't normally like Americans, but you're okay. Come hang out tonight." But after two weeks in Ecuador being a witty, great guy in these groups of hot English girls, I still wasn't getting laid.

So I had my epiphany. The biggest impediment to getting laid is always that girls are afraid someone will think they're being a whore by hooking up with you. Have you ever been in a bar and a girl has agreed to come home with you, but she scans the bar before leaving? She's looking to see if she knows anyone or if any of those people might know her parents. She doesn't want to leave a bar with some guy if someone might brand her as being whorish.

So, these English girls were always in groups from college, they liked me, they seemed to very much like me, but in two weeks of hanging out with these English girls, I wasn't getting shit but just being "The fun guy." Because these girls knew that they had to return home and still see these other girls back home at school. So I started finding the girls that were traveling alone, and then the whole traveling world opened up to me. The girls traveling alone don't know anyone and nothing will get back to anyone she knows back home. And they will fuck at the drop of a hat.

Like I said, I guess I'm not very bright not to have figured this shit out years ago, but damn wasn't I a happy fucker when I did! I should write some sort of book about this with some unique title like "Bang Ecuador" or some shit. It might sell well on GooglePlay.
