Planet Fatness is a parody. It reminds me of Curves but more successful. I probably should invest in it.

Even real women hate it. I told my wife a bit about planet fitness and her response was to say that (paraphrasing) "it sounds like the place is for bitchy people who are always obsessing about the rules"

Planet fitness is not a gym, its an ability to massage one's ego. Like the fat chick who can go calorie crazy when pregnant because she's 'eating for two'...having a gym membership makes people think they are somehow "more fit". Even if they walk in and eat pizza while doing back extensions (that can't be real) they can say "hey, I went to the gym, I deserve this pizza". Alternatively it may also be for social acceptance, some squishy fattie can talk about 'how all of the treadmills were busy with sweaty dudes' at the water cooler with Jen Selter because she 'also works out' and is now cool.

It's both. This is why every fat chick now says they do 5Ks.

Yeah, they walk 2.5K in an hour and go home to consume 5K calories.

I watch the fatties at the gym they don't stay on the treadmills or ellipticala more than 10mins if they do the just walk.....at a slow pace. It's crazy to me, if a curvy girl actually ran she wouldn't be curvy. I lost weight just walking a mile everyday. I've know a girl who's the same size as she was 15 years ago, yet she runs marathons? GTFOH!

That fuckhead 'trainer' in the trolling video that RexImperator posted needs a fucking punch in the face. Seriously like "get the fuck out of here" and talking shit over nothing.

I love the videos where people go there just to troll, I wanna do that!

I went there on Christmas break once because it was the only place open. I'm glad they are always open. I had initially tried to go to World Gym, but they closed at an absurdly early hour.

I have had people complain at gyms about my "body odor." Apparently they don't want me to sweat when I work out hard. Sweating is what it's all about.

I also know a guy who LIVED at Planet Fitness for several months. He had a van and slept in the van, and it was parked at Planet Fitness. He had a membership, so he also had 24-7 access to a bathroom and shower. I thought it was absolutely brilliant of him to do that.

I work out at planet fitness every once in a while when my gym is closed (planet is 24/7 and people can bring guests). The gym is insanely nice inside (a newly remodeled one) and has some top of the line equipment. The only problem with it is they don't have a squat rack, bar bells, or dumbbells that go over 60#. If you think about it these guys have a genius business model and I respect them for that. They target the people who are not serious about working out and have preventative measures to keep out people who actually are serious about working out. As a gym owner would you want to bring in members who will most likely pay for their membership and never use it or bring in serious lifters who are going to be there 7 days a week?

Mate, this is complete bollocks...just take a shower or put some deodorant on or something.

True Story: Years ago I had just moved into a new area and was shopping around for gym options. Went into PF and noticed that everything seemed nice and new. (They had just opened up.) The cute sales girl took me on a tour of the gym. What I noticed was that there was not a SINGLE fit woman anywhere in the gym. In most gyms, you have overweight girls trying to shed the extra pounds. In Planet Fitness, there was no such demographic. Combined with the lack of proper equipment, and my reflections that I'd be going to a gym with nothing but non-committal fatties (the men too weren't in very good shape), I decided it would be a demotivating factor to work out. Now I work out at a locally-owned gym that has two fantastic owners. Bottom line, Planet Fitness sucks.

Bump.

I finally went into one of these abominations they call planet fitness. My girl has a membership.

First thing first. They barely let me come in because I had a gallon jug of water. Didn't know that was against the rules.

I had to get creative to get a decent workout in but I did it It was a pull day for me but they only had one pull up/dip station but maybe 20 open Smith machines. I decided to do my pull ups and chin ups off the top of one with a 30lb dumbbell between my feet. The good thing is the top of the smith machine was real thick so my grip got gassed.

Then I moved the bar up and did lying pullup rows with my feet on a bench. Then I did bench dumbbell bent over rows and some abs.

I really didn't get bothered but what people do there is ridiculous. I saw a guy doing quarter reps on every exercise he did. Most other people did more sitting than working. I never thought there would be a gym for fat people but that's it.

That space and gym could be so much better. Wasted potential.

You guys must have really shitty Planet Fitness locations. I go to one that as dumbells that go clear up to 75lbs and a massive amount of them like 4 12ft 3 shelf wall racks full. Not only do they have squat racks, they have like 5 of them as well as Smith machines. They do have a ridiculous amount of treadmills, steppers, bikes and ellipticals but there's a good amount of weights as well. Also, I got at 6am and sure there's some fat chicks and some old women but there's also a good number of really hot chicks as well. There are dudes there that are totally jacked too, I mean NFL linebacker and DE type jacked. Anybody who says you can't get a good workout here is just stuck in bro mentality.

There are certainly some locations which are a bit different from others. I guess if they are oversubscribed already, then they try to limit the heavy users - male lifters and female Instagram-lookalikes. However in other locations they may go a different route and expand the reach also to the heavy users, since they cannot afford to lose thousands of dollars in monthly fees.

Besides - unless you have made it big, then it is always useful to cut down on useless expenditure and cutting down on cost via Planet Fitness is helpful if your needs can be met.

I personally use a fitness center led by a former pro Bodybuilder and it is 99,9% male. The cameraderie is great, but I can tell you sometimes I wish there would be less of those in-shape guys around since the favorite racks and weights get used by almost everyone.

PF is a franchise gym, so every location is going to be a little different. But in general, don't bother going.
