This is a very interesting post, and I don't necessarily disagree with it, but it's an issue that I've been thinking about a fair bit. Basically, how open should you be with your girl about the fact that you're banging chicks on the side, and how do you obtain a relationship like Akon's in the States?

I'm nowhere near settling down, but if I ever get married, I've thought about straight up including in the prenup that infidelity isn't grounds for breach. This is basically putting all your cards on the table, letting her know that you might have some on the side, and preemptively preventing a future divorce rape for it.

As somebody who want a family eventually, but can never see myself sleeping with just one woman, I'm really curious about whether this would work. Anybody else have thoughts?

Edit: Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure if infidelity is grounds for throwing out a prenup in the first place...

Good thing in Senegal is that it is heavily patriarcal.

Polygamy only makes sense if you're in a highly tribalistic society where official titles and ancestry bloodlines means something. The group dynamic is much more important. In feudal Japan the daimyo would have polygamist type relationships too whereas if the wife cheated then it was punishable by death. There was a practical necessity to create your own noble caste.

It makes sense, really. A man can theoretically impregnate a hundred women in a short period of time, but a woman could not be pregnant with a hundred kids at one time. We also understand there are also very different mental/emotional aspects of sex for men and women. Akon is right about how nature runs the show on this and humans blissfully try to ignore it. It has to factor into things, but taking nature into account does indeed explore the truth that men and women are not the same. Our men better? Aside from noting the obvious answer, I will just take the diplomatic route and say both men and women are separate but equals, both different but a force when working as a co-operative together.

But back to the idea of sex/desire and nature. If men had the same mental complexes and hangups towards mate selection as women; i.e. if we were truly the same the species would die out. The man is hard-programmed to chase and seek variety.
