Joint ventures - Anyone here have a substantial email list?

Recently, I've been trying to move into copywriting more, and an email I wrote for a client pulled in close to $100K - just one message.

Obviously, the guy made that money because he has a solid business at the end of the line that's worth selling. But it surprised me because I honestly thought the letter could have been a lot better. I would have put more work into it if the budget was higher (and probably should have anyways).

Anyhow, I'm looking for creative ways to gain more experience and make some money without the client, and without putting in the work and time needed for product creation. If any of you own an email list with a paying audience and want to discuss creative possibilities, I'm all ears.

Also interested to hear from guys who have a good product, service, or program with a high-traffic sales page that isn't converting the way it should.

You seasoned business guys feel free to offer advice as well. I'm still learning about this particular end of the market, so if you've got general advice or can offer a more realistic approach to finding ways to hone the skill, I'm listening. I know some of you really know your shit.

One thing I want to stay away from is the more hyped-up offers like the IM crowds focus on. Of course, some of that stuff is worth buying too, so I'm not writing it all off here. And I don't mind using the bag of tricks, but I have to believe an offer is genuinely valuable. Sometimes the language used in those IM sales pages makes my skin crawl. Which is why I'm posting this here instead of where they hang out.

I also think sometimes those more high-pressure marketers don't like my toned-down copy (scratch that - I know some of them don't lol).

Anyhow, I digress. Back to the topic at hand.

Sorry if you have answered this before but are you a web designer? Since it goes together with copywriting.

I have a product thats a startup, that could have a potential large following in the next 24months. But mostly will be looking at this thread to hopefully learn from you and other veterans.
