I was riding the subway yesterday. It was full. A young attractive Turkish chick was sitting on the right side of that metal stick marked in the photo. The left seat was empty.


A turkish guy came to sit there. He was average weight, in his 30s and his parents were with him. When he sat down, she yelled something like ''Wow, Easy! Stop Pushing!'', she meant he took too much space. This was a thing for the Turkish feminists last year. I didn't see what happened that instant when he sat down, I only saw what happened next. They got in a heated argument, he and his parents claimed that it's impossible for him to take too much space since there is the metal bar that separated him from her, and that he for sure is not harassing her since he is with his parents. The chick realized that she was wrong and cornered, so she told him

The chick: You can not yell at a lady no matter what! One can not raise his voice at a lady like that, don't you know?

Him: What are you talking about? You and I are both humans. I'm not taking too much space, I'm not harassing you, end of discussion. Stop accusing and mind your own business.

Her: (looking around at the people watching) How can you just stand there and watch a lady being yelled at? How come nobody stands up for a lady being treated so rude? I can't believe you are all just watching!

Everybody knew she was a bitch and she was just wrong and entitled. Nobody moved a muscle, nobody opened their mouth, not one person, not even the girls who watched it. An old woman from the other wagon started complaining about the guy for yelling at the chick, but that's it. No white knight factor was found that day in that wagon in Istanbul.

Check out Loki: http://www.lokiusa.com. I have several of their pullover sweatshirts and I really like the hood and muffler design; it's very comfortable and useful.

They have built in mittens too, though I've hardly ever used them except as a sort of party trick which girls inexplicably love.

I don't know what their quality is like now, but my sweatshirts have lasted pretty well with a lot of wear over 5 years.

I'm going to see about having something similar made in lined wool, without the mittens, at some point. One of my sweatshirts is pretty beat so I'm cool with having someone deconstruct it as a pattern.
