I'm short but athletic and have quite a hell of a problem with t-shirt.

My shirts are all fitted and fit very well on my body (chest, abs, shoulder etc.) but are always too long. So if I leave them untucked sometimes I feel like wearing a fucking dress. I tried folding the shirt up but they would just drape loose.

The contrary-to tuck in tshirt- seems like it will win me a stylehammer from basically every style forums .

But Ive been doing some digging and it looks like Marlo Brandon pulls that off damn well:




Well I'm no Marlon Brando but I have a similar physique and I have the same shirts, excepts they are v-necks. Some pics for reference:

I don't know, I feel like it looks neater with the shirt tuck in and made me look even leaner and fitter, whereas with the shirts untuck I feel like I'm wearing a dress and it visually shortens me.

Some opinions before I bring my t-shirts to a tailor? Unheard of... but I don't think they make the right t-shirt size for me on this earth. I can't find anything smaller, I'm at XS extra slim already and even if I do find smaller shirt it will be too tight on the chest I'll look like a douche

I had a friend who had a similar frame as you.
He decided not to care as much about his shirts and their lengths.
For example instead of worrying about whether or not t-shirts look too long change what you wear.
Wear dress pants and dress shirts to step up your style and clothes game. You're expected to tuck in dress shirts.

Also just put the t-shirt on and don't pull it down so much, pull it up a bit to the bottom of the shirt fall just below the belt.

Looks better tucked. Also, have you tried jeans with a higher waist? Your torso looks quite long compared to your legs. I have the same problem. Tailors usually suggest a slightly higher waist to compensate and give me more balance. A higher waist also helps to make the chest look more muscular.

Good idea. How do I go about finding higher waist jeans? Any specific style of jeans with higher waist or do I simply have to go ask at every store? Good excuse to hit up those retail chicks though

Higher waists can be difficult to find because the current fashion is tight/slim fit and low waist.

American brands are usually more classic and less influenced by current fashion, so they would be good places to start. Banana Republic, Levis, Lee, Wrangler. Maybe also Calvin Klein.

Definitely ask the girls in the store anyway... you'll get to open them and it saves a lot of time.

Lol, those are my ex's pants. She had tons of designer's jeans from the time she used to be big, so she gave it to me. The slim fit boost my ass up quite nice she used to slap it from behind all the time and I do notice a higher interest from girl. Saves me tons of $ buying new jeans and I can't find a 27 slim here anyway.

What I hate from those pants is that they are all very low waist (girl's pants like to show off skin and belly button) and a fucking pain in the ass (literally and figuratively) to get on and off if you squat at all.

Seems like I can pull the tucked in look. I'll fix the pants and slap on some boots and leather jacket for a real Rebel without a cause look then.

Experiment to find the ideal length that you think looks good and get them tailored. I have had the same issue and experimented for years. When I tailor them up they feel and look great. Not too costly and makes a huge difference.

It really is a Brando type look though, you've got to have that going otherwise it could be inconsistent.

People have to know it's a style decision, not some misguided attempt to 'smarten up' a T shirt. They have to know you're disregarding style norms, and not think you're just unaware of those norms.

I'd change the belt, get something that pops a bit more. Also untuck the t shirt slightly so it hangs over the belt a little.

I don't really dig the Asian gangster style. It only works for urban Asian living in ghettos in Asia IMO. And those guys are often lanky as fuck.

I do want to experiment with my hair a bit. Went to a good saloon one and got a pretty nice hair cut. Right after that I landed a SDL and my ex LTR lol. The asian-cool hairstyle you mention usually takes a lot of maintenance and works better with tall lanky Asian guys with long angular face. I've yet found a similar style that fits my face. Most ripped Asian with a similar frame to mine sport a simple short fauxhawk.

Brisey: Yeah I had a nice belt but the buckle got busted. Belt in Europe for some reasons are frustratingly plain and simple. Might have to check out Armani or CK for something with more bling.

Get a heavy dope ass belt buckle with a good quality leather belt.
I go for the same look but go for a bigger belt buckle.

Women can go to thrift stores, pick up real vintage clothes and they can still look great.

If you pick up those old suits that has baggy waist, big lapels and big shoulders, you will look like a dork going to magic card night.

Unless you have exceptional looks (good looking or unique look), I wouldn't recommend trying something risky.

Getting it from Asia (there are tons on ebay) should solve your problem. Don't tuck T-shirts in. I can't even remember seeing those.

Absolutely no wife beater especially in a solid color for regular pants. I am thinking about getting summer style one to wear at the gym or in Cali under the sun. (colorful shorts with no socks Sperry) that's it.

French people dress minimally in dark tones but it still looks stylish.

I am sure you can see many good examples to follow just by walking around the street.

Google tips for dressing for short guys. Untucked billowing shirts are a big no-no. Basically you want a smooth unbroken line from head to foot, with any minor eye-catching elements higher than waist level (e.g. pocket square).

I don't think this fit a "vintage" case. The items are basically the exact same thing you would see today. Notice how Brando's shirt are very slim fit? In the gif I even think he's wearing slim jeans. The only difference is that they tuck them in, that's why I thought this could be worth a case study.

My ex bought me some T-shirts from Seoul and fuck they fit like tailored made. Too bad we broke up before I could come do a shopping trip in her home town.

Yeah I'm in Paris. I agree that there are a shit ton more of well dressed guys here, but don't be fooled, the best dressed French guys are no better than the best dressed American. There are just a lot more of them IMO. The average French dress better than the average American though. French girls give US girls a run for their money in terms of style.

I'm good with my style game. I've been working on this for a long time. I've got tons of good blazer in nice color and fit cut (cost shit tons of $) and my dress shirts are all fitted and always tucked in. Even among cool Parisians I get a lot of compliments on my style.

Parisians don't give good style example for me because of this: they are extremely lanky and tall as if they are proud of being gay, and have a fair complexion. I on the other hand am short but quite athletic, and have a high contrast complexion.

The only reason I'm having trouble with t-shirts is this:

I'm very active (martial arts and especially dancing). I do most of my hunting and gaming in sports and dance social circle. Try wearing a dress shirt in a salsa dance club, you will either ruin your expensive shirt or you will look terrible after 3 spins. Your shirt will become untucked (even though the tail is long enough to cover half my calf), sweat are all over. Not a good look and not functional.

In these settings it's also very acceptable to be extra casual and showing off some muscle. I wear wife-beaters with dark blue jeans to dance all the time and girls have gone so far as to caress my arms.

I find that wearing a t-shirt/wife beaters to dance/martial arts (post training) is very functional. And for some reasons t-shirts don't become untucked and I maintain a very clean look even after 3 hours of dance. Although I can't shake the feeling I'm making a fashion faux-pas

Thinking back, whenever I game well in dance I was wearing a fitted tucked in t-shirts, or the few well-size Korean t-shirts. Maybe I should really go get the others tshirts. altered

I think you can go with that T shirts tucked in or wife beater if you are going for 'Dirty Dancing' look. look it up. it's exactly the same.

I don't like wearing regular shirts for casual purposes. They get wrinkled just by sitting in a car.

That's why I wear linen shirts. More wrinkle the better.

H&M XS stretch cotton v-neck just saves my life and solve all problems.

These things at 7 euros are awesome. If you have a good physique they really show it off, even your abs! And the cotton stretch curls itself up on its own and sit nicely right under my belt.
