AirAsia flight from Indonesia to Singapore missing

Jesus. 2 in a matter of months? Mental note to cross off TransAsia from my flying list.

PM me for accommodation options in Bangkok.

The NTSC report finally came out on this crash. Link: http://kemhubri.dephub.go.id/knkt/ntsc_home/ntsc.htm - FINAL REPORT.

I read the whole report. Basically what caused the problem was a cracked solder on a control board. The cracked solder caused electrical interruptions between the flight management computer and the rudder. After several faults, the autopilot disengaged and the pilots lost control of the plane.

The plane nosed up and rolled, stalled, and banked 104 degrees to the left (which means wings were past vertical!), descended at a rate of 20,000 feet per minute as the pilots were trying to regain control of the plane. I shudder to imagine what the passengers and crew went through, it must have been absolutely terrifying.

Apparently the cracked solder was a known issue for about a year, and the maintenance just reset the circuit breakers instead of replacing the damn thing. Irresponsible.

Great, and I'm flying with them in a few months.
