I am a former smoker. I smoked all through college and enjoyed it. The only reason I quit was because it clearly was affecting my performance in the gym.

Not a big deal, however these damn anti cigarette ads are doing a good job of making me want to smoke again. For two reasons, one I hate public service announcement ads that appeal to the teen "cool factor". Take that Ad Council and big Nanny State government! News flash idiots, it's cool because it's badass.

And second, the whole act of mentioning "cigarettes! cigarettes!" is enough to fire off the limbic system's desire to start again.

All of these dumb commercials are just brand-less ads for the whole act of smoking.

I've smoked four or five cigarettes in my entire life, but yeah, these commercials make me want to light up just as a way of saying "fuck you."

By now everyone knows it's fucking terrible for you, but the type of nanny state faggots that are responsible for these ads are the same activist SJW-types that annoy the shit out of me about other stuff.

Couldn't it be that the Nanny State actually wants you to smoke?

Consider the lovely tax revenues it collects.

They are playing with out heads. Of course they must "do something" with tobacco since the health risks are well documented. But notice that there isn't a 100% ban in any civilized country. The state would much rather pretend to care about our health and at the same time collect the taxes.

In countries with socialized medicine (e.g. most of Europe), the state has a direct monetary incentive to encourage people to die once they've entered the retirement age. Thus smoking is banned wherever it's inconvenient to non-smokers (in public places) but not altogether. Better to take the tax money from existing smokers until they die. And the propaganda actually causes smoking to be rebellious and cool again, like the OP mentioned. Couldn't it be intentional?

Excellent book. It helped me quit, though I'm still a nicotine addict - only I use vapes now.

Love good cigars. I always enjoyed the taste of a cigarette. Camel Golds and Silvers were my favorite. The head rush of a cigarette never amount to much. Quitting wasn't that hard, just me having a pissy nicotine withdrawal.

I never picked up smoking, but the time I do feel like smoking is when I'm playing billiards. It's just like everything in excess is bad. Women that smoke though, it's one of my turn offs.
