If you're just looking for a lot of gratuitous, senseless gore, you'll probably be disappointed by this one.

But it's a really great movie with an incredibly haunting atmosphere, strong acting (Tim Robbins plays the lead), and a well-done story. One of my all-time favorites.

Awesome thread, I'm downloading Salo, Phantasm and a couple more. Appropriate for the holiday season, too.
Did you enjoy Salo?? I know it is not a movie you can "enjoy" but I think you know what i mean [Image: smile.gif]

I only watched a few random scenes. I wouldn't say I enjoyed them tbh. One scene, which I stopped watching as soon as I understood what was going on, was about a gay guy who got fucked in a room full of people. Another one was about whores serving their shit to the same group people in the same dining room.

Funny Games - a very wierd German movie about a couple of normal appearing but cold blooded murderers who kill off an entire family on a camping trip. The family man, being a deneutered post-WW2 German male, barely resisted.

Try 7 Days or American Me which is one of the greatest prison films ever made. Dog Pound and Scum are rougher films about kids in a juvenile facility, Dog Pound is a modern American version while Scum an older English. Salo is really a piece of crap now that I think about it which is why it is celebrated so much in art circles LOL, watch the full thing if you are just crazy about rough and sadistic movies or maybe "out there" type movies

Edit, I KNEW there was something off about the actors in Dog Pound and sure enough I looked it up and it's a Canadian film with Canadian kid actors LOL, the accents were way to try hard

I just watched Cannibal Holocaust because of this thread, and...I don't know what to say. That film is the most realistic look at the depths of human nature I've ever seen.

The Mothman Prophecies is one of the more creepy and eerie films from the 2000s. Based on a series of actual events in West Virginia. This kept me awake at night.

You can also get the book "El Sicario" on amazon or your local library. I have the movie in Spanish. It's pretty straight forward and very chilling to say the least. I have a special "Mexico file" i keep for those who don't have a clue what is going on down there. It's scared the hell out of some hardcore gangbangers and has made some people physically sick and caused nightmares as well.

I found it on YouTube, but the translation into English kinda sucks. I can read Spanish better than I can understand hearing it. If the native speaker enunciates clearly, that is.

I guess I will nominate Ken Park even though it is not a good film. There is a kid shooting himself in the first 10 minutes, a teenager eating out a house wife, a dad trying to suck his son's dick, a guy choking himself while masturbating. I have no idea how some of these scenes were allowed unless they were props or the actors are over 18.........I am starting to suspect that the director Larry Clark has a thing for kids because he ALWAYS has this type of shit going on in his films

Does anyone remember Flowers in the Attic. Siblings are locked in their grandmother's attic and incest eventually begins

Silenced from South Korea is based on a true story and not for the light hearted.....a teacher discovers sexual and physical abuse going on towards deaf students by staff

I remember when I watched Requiem for a Dream together with a girl.
She had been talking a long time that it was her absolute all time favourite movie.

I couldn't get it. I hated that movie.
Don't understand why people loves that movie.

^ It's a highly realistic portrayal of junkies. But it's also depressing and negative as shit. I wouldn't watch it with a potential fuck under any circumstances.

Requiem for a dream is OK, it is sort of non mainstream so people get that "cool" factor for listing it as there favorite. I wouldn't venture into other films I'm listing if its disturbing for you
