I would guess the Esquire editors must be fairly old fogies to think a 40 year-old woman could be the sexiest woman alive.

Make no mistake about it. Even though the article is "written" by a "man," he's a mangina'd mouthpiece for the female hamster. The whole idea of declaring old bitches "sexiest alive" is under-girded by hamster logic.

However, they didn't say that she is the most beautiful. They said that she's the sexiest.

Sexy and beautiful mean different things. You can be a 5 or 6 objectively but girls can do sexy stuff to bring their values higher.

I'm seeing a girl that is objectively a 7, but she doesn't know much about sex, sexuality, or seduction. She isn't incredibly sexy (though still a good-looking girl). Contrarily, I also used to bang a somewhat bland, nerdy Singaporean girl, probably a 6, who nonetheless was very sexual. In her own way, she was sexier. The sex was certainly better, some of the best of my life.

I'm not saying that Penelope Cruz is nonetheless the sexiest woman around, only pointing out that sexiness and beauty are different. They often overlap but they can also be mutually exclusive, especially when you try to seduce a good-looking good girl, only to find out that she doesn't actually turn you on that much because her sexuality was intentionally toned down growing up. You can make her a sex slave, but it takes time.

This doesn't even get into the tendency of less beautiful girls to be better at sex, because they have to be, which has nothing to do with sexiness.

Obviously she isn't the "Sexiest Woman in the World" but I've seen worse choices.

People does a bigger one, their choice for 2014 was Lupita Nyong'o. The transexual looking chick from "12 Years a Slave", I think there was a thread on it.



Before that it was Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonce Knowles, J-Lo, Julia Roberts, Christina Applegate, Kate Hudson, and Drew Barrymore going back to '07. The main takeaway from that list is that the magazine is trying to sell it older women. Julia Roberts wouldn't be the hottest women in a randomly selected Starbucks, but they're trying to say she was the hottest in the world. It's crazy.

These women would be better candidates for a "Women Braving the Wall" article.

Out of all of these women I do think Penelope Cruz is the best choice. I've only seen her in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" but she definitely has this raw sexual appeal which I think is common in Latina/Mediterranean girls, at least for me. I also like that she took a shit on Israel a few months during that shit with Palestine.

Also I wouldn't blame the writer Tuth, he was assigned the job. It's probably one of the more desirable pieces to write too, guaranteed hits. Hell the guy wrote more about bullfighting than he wrote about her.

I can guarantee you that her publicist represents some more in demand client the journalist (or one of his colleagues) actually wanted to do an in depth interview with. The publicist agreed to give them access to her harder to get client in return for placing her fading star on top of a meaningless list. That's how the business works.

You can see the damage of time around the eyes, nose and mouth. As you age as a man into your forties, you will get used to this kind of look from the former beauties you have known over the years. They've long peaked. She is always going to look lesser to you than she was before. This is agenda, to sell 40 year old women as desirable, and using the standard tricks they'd decry if the woman was 20 years younger:

She's sexy considering her age but I wouldn't consider her the "sexiest woman alive." Her photos are meticulously shot to compensate for her flaws, to make it seem like she's "flawless" and "perfect." (I lost track of how many times the author used these words to describe her)

Without makeup, camera tricks, and an army of feminized males and feminists, she's no more "sexier" than the average post-wall 40 year old woman.

Good points. As someone in their late 30s, I'd bet if I asked my female contemporaries (friend's wives, coworkers) and that would basically be the list of who they 'absolutely love'.

So at least it's Penelope Cruz. In ten-fifteen years it's going to be a contest between Lina Dunham and Mindy Kailing.

Part of Famke Jannsen's appeal is that, from what I see, is that she acts her age.

Of course younger is better & we all likely could find women in & around where we live would be more deserving of the title of sexiest woman alive .
