An obese mother-of-two who lives on benefits says she needs more of taxpayers' money to overhaul her unhealthy lifestyle.
Christina Briggs, 26, from Wigan, says she hates being 25 stone but she can't do anything about it because she can only afford junk food. Meanwhile, exercise is out of the question because she doesn't have the funds to join a gym.
The single mother told Closer Magazine: 'It's not easy being overweight and on benefits. If I was well off, I'd be able to buy fresh food and afford a gym membership.

'I tried swimming but it cost £22 a month and it meant I had to cut back on my favourite pizza and Chinese takeaways.'
Unemployed Christina gets £20,000 in benefits a year and lives in a council house with her two children by different fathers, Helena, 10, and Robert, two.
She left school as a teenager after falling pregnant with her daughter following a one night stand.
The family feast everyday on takeaways, chocolate and crisps as Christina says they can't afford low fat foods. As a result, the mother is currently a dress size 26.

She has been warned by her GP that her health is in danger because of her size - medical complications relating to obesity include heart disease and diabetes.
Christina is desperate not to leave her two children without a mother and doesn't want her size to take her to an early grave.
But she insists 'it's not my fault – healthy food is too expensive'.

She feels her only hope is for the government to give her more money so she can afford to buy fruit and vegetables and join a gym.
She also believes she should be paid to lose weight as that would give her the motivation to fight the flab.
She told the magazine: 'I need more benefits to eat healthily and exercise. It would be good if the government offered a cash incentive for me to lose weight. I'd like to get £1 for every pound I lose, or healthy food vouchers.
'If the price of healthy food was lowered that would help, too. I need help, but I need it from the government.'
She added that she can't get a job to gain more money because she's needed at home to care for her children, especially as her daughter has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and issues with her kidneys.
She explained: 'There's no way I could get a job. I don't feel bad about the taxpayer funding my life and my child's medical problems, because I don't treat myself or buy anything excessive. I just get enough money to live on - the taxpayers should help fund my diet.'

The mother's weight doesn't concern me that much. Lots of fat women around. But what I do wonder about is:

Who is having sex with women like this?! I don't want to come off like a cliched American conservative here and "blame the men!" when the women are out of line. This woman is definitely responsible for her weight. But whoever sired her kids is making the problem much worse.

My feeling is that if no men paid attention to overweight women, they'd have some incentive to lose weight. But since they can get attention, why bother?

Think about it. What would happen if you got to lie around all day, eat fattening foods, and women would still come around and fuck you? You'd continue to be a slug.

We need to socially shame "chubby chasers" and "fatty fuckers." Whatever happened to men not wanting to be seen in public with fat women? For that matter, whatever happened to men shaming their women for porking out?

Maybe Viagra is to blame. I personally could not rise to the occasion with anyone whose body shape is like a turnip, but perhaps other can, with the help of modern medicine.

What BS, unhealthy eating is more expensive. After my first business went bankrupt I spent 6 months living on minimum wage while paying child support and lawyers fees for the legal fallout from the business.
I did not eat unhealthy shit like she does because it was too F#ing expensive.

And I bet it's much easier for her to get laid than I.

This is the most obvious problem with fat acceptance. As I've said, what's more insidious is that it has become fat encouragement with the goal being (since most feminists range from fat to obese) fat/obese women considered the norm of what is considered attractive. Songs like "All About That Base", the phrase "plus size" and basically every feminist site (Xo Jane, Jezebel, Huff Post) show this. Just recently they were talking about an episode of Homeland where a drunk fit guy bangs a gigantic whale. Of course it was celebrated. And as discussed, they rage against attraction to pretty, feminine women.

So I think we need to continue the fat shaming, and to do so in a constructive way. I say to even go beyond talking about health, just go straight to the truth. Men will not tell women what to find attractive, likewise women will not tell men what to find attractive. Being attracted to fit women is not a social construct. Obese women are not attractive, and no matter how hypocritical they try to be, this is especially true of men who are in top notch physical shape. AND target the men who bang these beasts. I think many have been brainwashed into the fat acceptance crap, we need to let them know it's ok to be repulsed by it.

I'll end this with a joke I just read:

Women like this always underestimate just how much food they eat. The food may be shitty but if she just ate less she wouldn't be so large. Portions are unheard of apparently.

It would probably cost less overall to pay for her to diet and get skinny vs. pay for health care treatment related to her obesity. So, as ludicrous as it sounds, signing her up for some sort of state paid, state mandated gym membership AND state mandated diet plan is reasonable in an economic sense.

One of the health insurance companies I used in the midwest USA would go half with you on a gym membership and on CSA farm shares (where organic farms deliver produce to you) so it does make sense.

Funny enough, this is actually how I eat since I became a bachelor (it depresses me to prepare salads, since the ex and I used to do that).

Bags of salad where I live are $2.50. Dressing is 2 bottles for $4 on sale. Broccoli crowns run less than a dollar each. Bananas are about 30-40 cents a pop. Tuna is very inexpensive and so are all sorts of pasta. Turkey and chicken you can usually find on sale somewhere.

What's expensive? All those ridiculous Sara Lee cakes, the Hershey's stuff, carb-filled cereals, and the fattening prepared food you get from the deli.

It's ridiculous to claim healthy food it too expensive -- or you don't have access to it. The produce aisle is directly to your right in most supermarkets. You can't miss it.
