Flab to fit - In progress

A couple of months back I started lifting again. In the last two months, I have dropped 15 pounds and feeling better. I still have a way to go, but I am feeling better and things are finally looking up. The advice you guys gave me to take care of my health first, then my other things was awesome. I can definely see a difference already.

Because I (and probably most people) enjoy reading about people's fitness success goals do some of you guys want to share how getting fit helped your life? Besides the direct benefits to picking up chicks, did it also help your work life? Did it help you deal with the stresses of life? Things like that? Any positive story is welcome!

Thanks peeps!

I'm still in progress as well - 12 pounds down, 15-20 to go.

The main benefit so far has been my health. I'd developed mild sleep apnea and felt tired all the time. That's completely cleared up. I got a snore monitor app on my phone and I went from epic snoring to practically none. I now have plenty of energy throughout the day and get up at 6am without an alarm. My skin also looks a lot healthier and feels better. It's hard to describe but it's been a noticeable difference. In general my mood and overall sense of well being has increased significantly. Hard to say how much of that is the weight loss and how much is just eating better but I'm not going to argue with it.

I've gone from 288 to 212. Started March 5, 2014. I have 180-185lbs of lean muscle. Goal is to hit 195-200lbs by November 30th. I used to lift a lot prior to 2010. Then let myself go and stopped hitting the weights and pounded on beer and calzones instead.

Shocking news. I've gotten laid a lot more in the last couple of months and gotten away with saying all sorts of rotten shit to women now, as opposed to when I was a disgusting fatbody.

Never again will I be a fat disgusting slob.

lost over 60 pounds since my diagnosis of type 2 diabetes in january of 2009. was 250 at the time and marshmallow looking. now i look more like a man and not a marshmallow.

completely different lifestyle. low carb diet, cardio 4 or 5 times a week, weights twice. feel about 100 times better. all the aches and pains i assumed were a part of entering my 30s disappeared. i sleep better and am generally more energetic.

it's pretty much all good, but 2 minor regrets about the change in lifestyle:

1 i'm a lightweight now when it comes to booze (which i probably should just avoid altogether)

2 i had to pretty much ruin my health first before getting the motivation to get back on track, which is unfortunate.

Besides the health benefits my appearance has finally started to change. Yesterday a co-worker come up to me and said, "What did you do? You look like you've lost 20lbs in 2 weeks.". It's really only 15 lbs and it's been 3 1/2 months. I told him it was diet and exercise. I've also noticed at social events girls will come up and stand about two feet away from me making it super easy for me to open them. That wasn't happening even a few weeks ago.

Congratulations. That's what it is all about here: self-improvement and becoming a better man overall.

As for, I started lifting weights on a regular basis again starting back in July after being dormant for nearly 10 years. I have made amazing progress on all my lifts. Mind you, they are like having newbie gains again but it is awesome seeing the progress.

My weight has not changed but my physique has and women have noticed. I look more built. I do need to add on some cardio and lose some weight because I am not at my goal weight yet. However, even I notice in the mirror that my physique is a tad slimmer though my weight has not changed.

This is not a really correct statement, since 5lbs of fat weight the same as 5lbs of muscle...

^ Fine then, 1m cubed of muscle weighs more than the same amount of fat. Happy?

Muscle has greater density.
