I'll be in contact when I get closer to coming up. You have already given us way more than $50.00 worth of information in the oil sands thread and I appreciate it tremendously.

When is the right time to make the resume? Once I'm in Alberta and have gotten my safety tickets? Or ahead of time and just list the safety tickets I will have gotten by the time I'm handing out resumes? It would be nice to have the resume out of the way. I suck at making them personally, they always come out too lite.

I definitely want to use your service here, I'll be in Alberta end of the Oct...and will be getting my tickets asap when I get there.

I’m very interested in these services. I already sent you a PM Atlantic. I will be arriving in Edmonton on the 6th of Oct. Let me know if you are available this week to discuss my resume and job options with my current qualifications. I will be hitting some companies and job fairs next week.

Whenever you know what job area you are aiming for. I will tailor the resume for that specific industry so the more certain you are the better. You can always edit in/out whatever courses you changed your mind on afterwards. If you know what side of the industry and roughly what courses are needed then Id say thats the right time.

I believe so. Some things like the driving licence type and exact names of courses will be different of course but the layout, experience and wording is nearly the same. As long as you know what courses are needed and what industry you are going for I shouldn't see any issues.

Just a heads up for you guys in Edmonton and looking for job leads:

There is a 2014 Alberta Employment and Career Fair tomorrow (October 3) & Saturday (October 4th) at the Edmonton Expo Centre (Northlands), Hall C (7515 - 118 Avenue).

Probably lots of Construction, and Oil & Gas Employers will be present.

Hey Pete you're back, you disappeared there after initially posting, are you still up in Fort McMurray?

I took some time off work and am looking again but trying to stay local to Edmonton.

I went to the job fair today at the Expo centre and had some good feedback from one the representative hosts about my resume and just to say something on the topic of resume reviews: I've always included the year, as well as month that I've worked for a company, however it is really relevant enough to only show the year(s) that you've worked or attained certificates. It really seems like a lot of data to analyze for employers when they are trying to build a month by month chronological timeline of how you became who you are, but rather they should be focusing on what credentials you currently have and your specific experiences that will make you a good fit for the job.

First batch of people contacted about resumes. I can only do so many in a week so first come first served. I should get these all done this week and will contact people about payment and emailing it to them once they are finished.

Hopefully works out well for everyone and I am excited to see how people will do with getting hired.

Atlantic,

Currently working a FT job in the Supply Chain/Logistics field in the US. What would you say if I were to tweak my resume with your service and apply to Alberta jobs in my field online?
