Best EE/Russian city for the winter months?

That's fine by me as I'm more of a mini relationship guy. I want to find a quality girl and be with her for a month or so as opposed to being on the hunt every night. Less energy and money wasted as well.

Btw, how's Tajikistan? Would love to see a data sheet on it and since your nick implies that you know the place, would be appreciated if you were to post a DS on it.

I have a buddy of mine who is from Uzbekistan. He left the US went back home, to Tashkent and married a hottie and is very happy there. He keeps on telling me that I have to go there as it's warm in winter, cheap where 2k would go very far and the girls very sweet, feminine and open to dating foreigners. Anyone from here been there recently?

That's a great suggestion man! I never thought of Belgrade but now I'm intrigued. Croatia can be a good option too. Heard and read good things about Split too. Anyone on the ground currently in Split and Belgrade? Would love to hear your thoughts on those cities!

How long ago were you in Belgrade WW?

Ukraine is very cold in the winter, and the nightlife is not so busy then. You can have fun in Ukraine in the winter, but it's the worst season to be there, IMO.

I heard Poland can have good nightlife in the winter, but maybe an expert on Poland can confirm this.

Vacancier Permanent, you might like Belgrade.

Great suggestions my friend!
Yeah Poland keeps coming back and I know I will be pleased there. It's definitely high in my list! Gotta start re-reading Bang Poland! [Image: smile.gif]

Lublin is also a good suggestion as is Budapest. The beauty of being in Europe is you can easily get from one city to another fairly fast, so will be checking a few cities in the process and when I get to Budapest, I'll get in touch with you!

There is a good trip report by dk902: http://www.rooshvforum.network/thread-21030.html

Lublin is also 3 hours from Lviv so you could trek back & forth for visa border runs every 3 months. (3 months Poland, 3 months Ukraine) You will be a familiar face in both cities and subsequently be able to hold up a good back-up story. (Westerner working/investing in the local tech sector)

Both Lublin & Lviv should have decent English proficiency levels among young people and are known for their IT industry (cheap & capable labour force). Both cities should also have more than enough to satisfy a man who wants feminine, skinny, and pleasant women.

Lublin should be even cheaper than Budapest judging from Numbeo.com so you could live there for less than $1,500/mth for sure.

Lublin is bit small so depends on your preference of the hustle & bustle of a metropolis. That's why I personally choose Budapest. So if god decided to wipe Budapest off the map, I'd choose the Lublin-Lviv combo as my 2nd choice. 3rd choice would be Tallinn since it is one of the more expensive EE destinations.

I just landed in Budapest last night btw and woke up from a 10 hour sleep. Time for me to wash my face and get myself slowly settled into this city!

Would love to see a data sheet on Stavropol man!

VP, based on the criteria you mentioned, I can recommend my home city of Stavropol. It's in the Northern Caucausus region and the winters are milder, though we're speaking about Russia so it's still cold as hell. Nightlife is actually decent and public transport runs well. It's relatively cheap, tons of hot girls, and you don't have to deal with Moscow attitudes.

Regarding costs of living, restaurants, etc. check out the info here.

K my man,
I hear you bro! I keep having the same internal dialogue multiple times per day myself! I know what to expect in Asia and I know how good Asia is and can be. There are still many new places within Asia I have yet to go.

I'm sick of the long and cold Canadian winters but I figure the svelte, sweet, leggy and beautiful EE girls who are oozing in feminity, may be worth the sacrifice of being in a Soe what colder place. Mind you nothing like Hellberta cold! [Image: wink.gif]

For all I know I may still end up spending the winter in Asia and in,y spend a few days before in EE as a short reconnaissance trip for a longer stint in the spring. Will see...

Where are you spending the winter this year?

Quote: (09-30-2014 02:44 PM)Kdog Wrote:

VP, I don't get why would you want to pay $2k a month to stay somewhere cold? That's not exactly cheap either. Might as well stay in Vancouver.
$1500 goes very far in SEA, and its sunny skies and hot weather day in day out there. Also unless you are drop shipping, wouldn't Asia and not Europe be the better place for starting an ecommerce project? Pretty easy decision IMO.

Book the ticket to SEA already and plan EE for warmer times in the spring, I don't think you will regret it.

Oh man, I don't know...Tashkent perhaps? It's not in Russia, but there should be some Russian girls out there, and the weather is nicer.

Like it was mentioned before, Pattaya is probably the best option. You can get an excellent apartment for $350/month, a motorbike, cheap food and booze, and you are all set. There is no place in Russia and FSU with such high quality of life for so little money. Lots of Russian chicks, just take a 20 min ferry to Koh Lan during the day and bounce around the clubs and Walking Street at night. Girls are more DTF cause they are on vacation. Hell, you can even live in Pratamnak (between Pattaya and Jomtien) which is basically a Russian neighborhood.

Seriously, many Russians escape Russia for the entire winter and fly to SEA like snowbirds. They would say you're crazy if you want to go to Russia in winter.

Brodiaga,
Agreed on Pattaya being an almost like a Russian resort town specially during the winter! I remember walking many a resto where the menus where in thai and Russian but no English! There are even a few bars and clubs with Russian bands and music full of Russians.

However most of these Ruskies are there with their thuggish bfs or sponsors.

Btw, how legit is russiacupid? Signed up a free account there last night and saw some decent talent. Anyone tried it before and got good results there?

Another place that keeps popping up in many discussions about must visit places in EE is Moldova. Anyone been there recently?

Yes, I was in Pattaya last January and I saw MANY cute Russian single girls. I opened a lot of them but they didn't speak any English.

I wonder if it's not a good idea to try and find a huge hotel that does special charter deals for Russians, in order to be day and night immersed...

But can one book this kind of deals from outside Russia though?

Thanks, I looked at the flights from Moscow to Pattaya and it seems they all stop first at Phuket.

Does anyone know if there are nearly as many Russians in Phuket than in Pattay? I think Phuket is less sleazy than Pattaya, which would be good...

Best city? Any 100,000 - 500,000 inhabitants
student city in southern Albania or Bulgaria (avoid Sofia),
it is a warm winter (usually average plus 10 - 15 degrees Celsius)

compare that to the minus 5 to minus 45 degrees Celsius
that happen in the russian and polish winters...

Why are the numbers of Russian tourists to Pattaya down this winter ?
I read an article in the Pattaya Mail about Pattaya beginning to earn a bad reputation with Russian Tourists which explains partially the lower numbers that hoteliers are experiencing this high season in Pattaya. Unofficial sources put the decline in Russian tourists at about 30% on last year's figures. The same source also said that the same decline also is being seen in Phuket."

I would forget about Poland during the winter. Too damn cold . . . and grey. Do not underestimate how depressingly grey northern Europe is during the winter. If you go, bring a sun lamp.

As others have suggested, Romania or Bulgaria might be worthwhile, or perhaps Georgia? Would not go any farther north than those countries during the winter.

But I would seriously consider SEA as many others have suggested, or S.A. - especially Argentina.

The fact is that Russians are invading SEA on all fronts these days.
They are not only going to Pattaya,Koh Chang or Boracay like they use to do.

During my last trip I kept bumping into Russians everywhere I went.
Koh Chang, Penang, Langkawi and also Sumatra.
I'm sure they are all over Cambodia and Vietnam aswell.

This was not the case 6-7 years ago.
Back then you rarely saw any Russians.

The Russians are coming!
Happy hunting guys!

Romania and Bulgaria are depressing, cold, and grey in winter. Only advantage is that winter doesnt last quite as long as in Poland

I don't think it's a good idea to find a big hotel for package tourists in advance, and here's why:

-Smaller hotels are very good, cheap and easy to find in Pattaya. You can book one for the first day or two in advance, then walk around and find a better deal if you're staying longer.
-No guarantee that Russian girls will be at a particular big hotel. There are hotels that cater mostly to Russian package tourists, but you never know how many cute Russian girls will be there when you arrive, or maybe you'll end up with Chinese picture taking groups (good luck gaming them, haha)
-Many of these hotels are located far away from the center (Jomtien) and/or charge a fee to bring guests. A guest fee can really screw you up if you don't make sure in advance that the hotel is guest friendly. Always check that before you book, because they may charge as much as 1000 baht/night to bring a guest.
-Girls go to Koh Lan (a nearby island), shopping malls, Walking St at night anyway, so many opportunities to pick them up there.
-Beaches are public, so you can still pick them up at a beach in front of their hotel even if you don't live there.
-You can also find a small guesthouse next to a hotel where Russian girls live, then walk around and hit on them. I tried it in Protomnak a few years ago with no success, because it was off season. I had more luck in clubs and on the street.

As far as English goes, girls who travel abroad are more likely to speak it, so I don't think your chances of scoring in Russia would be much higher if you don't speak Russian. I can't speak for Eastern Europe, though, where more people speak English in general.

I forgot to mention other well known Russian hot spots - Phuket and Samui. Yes, plenty of Russians all over SEA, but if you're looking for a high concentration of grils, then I would choose Pattaya, Phuket or Samui in order of preference.

The general rule is that restaurants with Russian menus in Thailand overcharge and/or suck. Many Russians who understand English try to avoid them.

Bars and clubs are cool, particularly "Bydlo Bar" in the middle of Walking Street (Bydlo means riffraff in Russian). It's not officially called Bydlo Bar, but you can try opening Russian girls by asking where it is and see the reaction.

Yes, lots of thuggish Russians, other farangs and Thais in Pattaya. The place is full of scum, but that's what makes it fun. I've never had a problem with other Russians there, though. You are much more likely to get scammed by a Thai than beaten or robbed by a Russian tourist.

Girls with sponsors? Thailand is not that expensive so many girls can afford it, even from the provinces. Yes, many come with husbands or bfs, but lots of single girls as well.

Don't know anything about Russian Cupid. In Pattaya, a Russian girl who stayed there for the winter mentioned that she used Badoo and other international dating sites to meet other farangs there. An Italian guy sent her a dick pic on Badoo, probably an RVFer too.

Maybe something happened since last year when I was there last time and saw too many Russians. I can't see Pattaya lose its appeal to Russians, because it's cheap, close to BKK airport, easy to get around, has lots of package tour hotels, etc.

But, like I mentioned above, Phuket and Samui are other options. In Phuket, I would stay in Patong and maybe ride around on a motorbike because taxi drivers there are bastards. Samui is more spread out, but Chaveng and Lamai are the most popular parts of the island.

Hi there folks, kanuk here. I'm planning an escape to Europe for the very near future, and having the hardest of time picking a destination.
I'm wondering what you all mean by "miserable winter" in Europe.. is it that bad compared to the canadian winters? From what I see on the web the avg winter weather is colder than Moscow (Montreal) so I think most destinations will still be an upgrade.
Definitely value fun and Gemütlichkeit more than the weather this time around, but it's a factor.
Looking at Estonia, Czech, Hungary, Slovenia, Poland etc.

I've had my share of SEA and would stay away from that if at all possible.

Edit: oh god, this thread is old, didn't notice. Sorry for necroposting.

Hey,

I'm from Canada, and found the Winters in Kyiv to be milder. They're depressing, in the sense that you look at Soviet buildings every day, and they seldom shovel the sidewalks, but other then that, you'll be fine.

I've wrote extensively before, that I actually prefer Kyiv in the Winter, as opposed to the Summer. Less tourists, and the girls are still active.
