Film star George Clooney marries in Venice

Clooney and his friends had sipped champagne before gliding up the Grand Canal on Saturday evening to the luxury Aman Hotel, waving to hundreds of well-wishers.

Guests include Cindy Crawford, Bill Murray, Matt Damon and the U2 singer Bono.


A police boat swerved in vain to try to keep the paparazzi away.

Ms Alamuddin was last seen publicly on Friday riding in a water taxi down the Grand Canal with Clooney's arm round her.

The couple were engaged in April.

Clooney was previously married to Talia Balsam, who he divorced in 1993.

One of the world's most recognisable actors, the American has two Oscars to his name: for best supporting actor in Syriana (2006) and for best picture as producer of Argo (2013).

Other than his film work, he has embraced human rights causes such as the Darfur crisis in Sudan.

Lebanese-born British lawyer Amal Alamuddin has defended Julian Assange of Wikileaks and former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko among others.

She met Clooney through her work.

People in her native village in Lebanon, Baakline in the Chouf district, welcomed news of her impending marriage, AP reports.

"We congratulate them and we hope that the happiness will be international," said shopkeeper Ghassan Bou Hatoum.

The couple's choice of Venice for the wedding is apt as Clooney is a frequent visitor to its film festival. He also owns a villa on Lake Como, north of Milan.

Despite the long build-up to the wedding, interest still abounded on social media at news of the knot being tied.

"George Clooney is married," wrote one tweeter. "Heterosexual men of earth release a collective sigh of relief. Everyone else mourns."

Who cares about Clooney though. We need more time to assess his moves, something is fishy about the guy but as many as noted in the past that he is a died in the cloth "humanitarian" whom has never seen a cause he hasn't liked. So his delusions on that might be a major weak spot which inhibited his selection process into locking down a broad less eggs then a store carton left in her ovaries.

I admit I was disappointed with Clooney on this. He's George Clooney and can have any woman he wants period and he chooses...this?

Of course it would be beyond arrogant of me to tell what somebody else should find attractive, especially a man as high on the totem pole as George Clooney but still, I do wonder what his motivation with this was.

Maybe he does want to enter politics, but I think having a wife is less important for that now, especially in blue states where George Clooney lives and are getting increasing political power. The family values coalition is fast declining in relevance and can no longer win national elections.

Now George isn't stupid so he must know this too. So really, what could it be?

I think it's this.

Also, in the various pictures of her I've seen, I think she may be one of those women who looks better in person. Either way, she has a nice body.

I don't think he wants kids. In terms of political ambitions, he's even said that he has too many skeletons.

Truth is he can get married and if it doesn't work out, he'll have top quality women lined up around the block. Still does either way.

So the benefits of companionship and presenting as a couple at all the events he has to go to (entertainment industry events, charity events, etc.) are probably worth it.

I agree with this too. Her exotic ethnicity and religion and politically-correct "career" only add to that status -- a perfect liberal pin-up girl, made even more perfect, indeed, by the fact that she is attractive but not that beautiful; she can serve as a credible pretty-worldly-intellectual-career-woman rather than just another bimbo. Similar to a Huma Abedin scenario, although Abedin comes across as a grinning sycophant moron whereas Alamuddin does not in my opinion.

Although I dislike his left-wing politics, Clooney strikes me as not a bad guy -- he is more into the feel-good "humanitarian" causes, which is an important contrast with most Hollywood socialists who exhibit much harder-edged arrogance and hypocrisy.

(Obviously I am going only by the public personae of these three individuals and I have no idea what they're really like.)

Yes, I 'actually' am.

I've know very intelligent women, and, like all women, they are driven to give in to a pure emotional state, meaning logic and reason instantly crumble when feelings are involved. As such, their 'intelligence' ultimately is absolutely of no use in a relationship, and therefore of no value to a man, because they're going to react in the exact same manner when confronted with anything that frustrates the wants of their id: it's never my fault. Good family, highly-educated, intelligent, the emotional maturity of a blue collar white trash family.

I remember receiving a letter from an old bang - she was a post doctoral fellow - who'd shot up the corporate ladder and moved to New York for her career. She sent me a 20 page handwritten letter explaining her experiences on 9/11 and how it was, basically, all about her. The exact same solipsism would exist in a mundane 100 IQ girl, so... what use is female intelligence if women act in predictable ways despite differences in IQ?

Here's another one, masters, all about career, fucks alpha men all through her 20's, marries poor alpha husband, turns him beta with her nagging, frivorces him out of the resulting sexual repulsion, realises she's post 29 and the alpha's aren't knocking anymore, gets baby rabies a few years later, marries a rich American beta, gets knocked up, has the kid, says she's realised what is 'really important', suddenly becomes all about her child to the degree she has been writing a daily blog on her daughter and her achievements for 12 years now whilst never once mentioning or picturing her beta husband, just started a business for products for little girls with 'Warrior' in the company name.

Her 135 IQ was, ultimately, useless. Her trajectory was accurately-predicted again and again by writers in the manosphere.

Look at the level of prescribed thought coming out of the current crop of university graduates, and the obvious logical fallacies in their arguments repeated ad nauseum in the media. Idiotic drones like Laurie Penny and Amanda Hess are the 'supposedly' intelligent women, telling us that fat is healthy and ugly is beautiful. University-educated women are the overwhelming user base for the glorified picture book that is Buzzfeed, because they require their information parcelled out in declamatory one sentence statements punctuated by sassy gifs. As such, even their political beliefs and moral crusading thrives on slacktivist superficiality: Tumblr and Twitter are popular because they are trivial and targeted to uncomplex thought and simple communication.

The modern 'educated' woman can't moderate her eating; abuses her alcohol consumption; makes poor sexual choices in the name of sexual equality; deliberately uglifies herself to pre-aging and sloth; and swears like a sailor in her desperate attempt to equate her worth with her masculinity, then ask why men aren't attracted to intelligent women. Since the result means she's interchangeable with a prole gutter slut, then I ask again, what is the advantage of female intelligence?

So, yes, from my personal experience of dating these girls, and reading every fucktarded, solipsistic vomit that female typists spew out: intelligent women don't exist, just ones who are arrogant about believing their own intellectual superiority.
