If you're a soccer fan, fbtz.com is a fantastic board to register for that will allow you to download matches within minutes of them concluding. Best part is that there are absolutely no spoilers on the site.

Or you could just go here and watch them live for free. Any sport you want, pretty much any match going on in the world is available:

I always find it somewhat humorous when people think they are cavaliers for cutting out cable TV and then purchasing things like chromecast or netflix. It's the same shit guys. Why pay subscription fees when you can download or stream anything on netflix for free?

Any entertainment you could ever want is available for free if you learn how to find it.

But then we don't wanna be "thieves" [Image: lol.gif]. I agree with you, however. The only reason for having something like Netflix is that it costs $8 a month and sometimes you just wanna stream instant entertainment but yes, you can do without that as well.

Paying $80-100 for cable to watch a couple of good shows and games is a huge waste of money.

My setup consists of an Apple TV and a HDD both connected to my TV. I don't have cable like you but then I dont get local free-to-air channels either.

The Apple TV is connected by HDMI but can be controlled by my Mac in my bedroom over Wi-Fi. I setup iTunes to the mix of songs/playlists that I have and it runs it in a loop when I have friends over. This is something many people, who visit me, dont know about. For those that do, my computer is logged off so its off-limits. When people want to use my system, I usually agree to give access but quickly change topic to get them off using my system.

The HDD is connected by the USB port on the TV with my movies and music neatly arranged by folders. When I have women over, I play the music folder for soft stuff e.g. Miles Davis. For parties, I move into the party music folder. For other events, I have podcasts and TED talks stored in other folders. So when I cook, I put this folder on as it helps to me to learn something new.

If friends are over while I cook, I make them help me during cooking so that they dont flip or change stuff on the TV. If I have friends over for night, I switch to the movies folder after some time. I usually have downloaded some foreign language movies from torrents. So, while eating, this is turned on.

Having a TV for a party sucks.

But if you're just like showing quick funny "fuck her right in the pussy" vids it helps lighten the mood up.

Just watch one or two quick funny videos and then switch back to music and drinking.

TV can be used as beta bait if you think about it. Just don't make the party revolve around the tv.

Nope.

This whole thread is strange. It's like asking...

"How do I get big without using the ShakeWeight?"

"How do I fly to Thailand without using a bicycle?"

"How do I get a job without going to prison?"

"How do I bang a girl without reading the whole dictionary?"

What's the point of posting "this thread is weird?". I get it if you are used to living without it a long time it may come off as odd, but I just cut my cable recently after having it for 15 years straight! I found myself missing it a couple times when I had a large amount of people over to my house and was just trying to think of alternative ways to get sports, etc. I got some solid ideas from what other guys have shared here that I am fully confident in my decision to continue on without cable permanently, where as before I was waffling a bit.

A bunch of debate in this thread and no real suggestions. Try something that doesn't involve the tv...cards against humanity, catchphrase, jenga etc. Chromecast is good, I just leave pandora playing for parties. Keep a frisbee football or soccer ball lying around or a guitar nearby etc Most of my parties center around the kitchen or the grill
