I approached this two girls. I was going to use "do you know any super-markets close-by?" opener but I asked first "can I ask you something?". I directed this question at the hot girl. Her less attractive friend immediately jumped in and said "No".

Another instance. Also two girls. This girl approaches me and says "Hi". Her girlfriend next to me gives me the I-look-down-upon-you-look while she is the ugly one of the two.

There are also couple of other situations this kind of things happened. I thought about this. Is it because they really to fend me off from their friend, or is it jealousy?

Correct answer: "That's fine, I wasn't talking to you anyway".
