Thanks Texas Prophet.

I wonder if Vice will report on who funds those fuckers. An organization cannot be this disciplined, trained and armed without some serious backing and funding. It's understood that the Saudi Arabians and the United States were the backers of ISIS, funding and arming them to fight Assad's army in Syria, same as to how we funded the Taliban and the Arab jihadists in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union. Man, we never learn.

Saudi Arabia should be shitting their pants, as these radical, hardline Islamist groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda loathe the Saudi monarchy, and their actions will boomerang on them. It will boomerang on us as well, I fear.

Btw, despite what other Muslims say, groups like al Qaeda and ISIS practice the most original and purist form of Islam and sharia law there is, hence the persecution of non-hardline Sunnis, Shias and Christians in Iraq (among the oldest christian communities in the middle east and the world), forcing the latter to "leave, convert or die".

This article suggests they're earning up to $1 million a day selling oil. I have read others suggesting as much as $3 million a day.

Also they've raided central banks of cities they've captured.

You can read a lot too about who funds them, lots of "private donors" from the gulf. But I think selling oil is the biggest source of their income now.

Wouldn't it be relatively easy to do a fighter strike and temporarily disable to oil facilities they're pumping out of? Would that spike worldwide prices too much and be self-defeating to the first world?

I don't see the upside of having these assholes around.

Asking the U.S. government to bomb oil producing facilities?

Come on now, that's like asking Al Qaeda to burn the Quran.

They were well armed and well trained, even before taking the Iraqi Army's shit. Whoever built them wanted to create a fierce militia to take on Syria and maintain control of the biggest fields in Iraq. My guess would be Qatar, maybe Saudi.

I was reading reports about how hordes of Kurds were retreating from a few ISIS fighters which made me confirm my hunch - the Kurds wanted to feign defeat as they have not got weapons from the US, who will only sell them through the central gov.

The Kurds want serious firepower and independence and they know that if ISIS threatens to take over the USA are going to give them what they want so they can fight back ISIS and other extremist groups.

If Kurdistan becomes a new 'Israel' it would be the second country in the ME likely to back the USA if the shtf but the neo cons and Obama were obsessed with keeping Iraq together and not letting it fall apart.

I say let the Sunnis have their bit, the Shiites there and back and train the Kurds to the hilt as they will always be western allies. Erbil was stable and affluent and Kurdistan could become a new Israel/UAE ie one of the few ME countries that is not a disaster particularly due to oil revenues.

I always found it fascinating how these violent groups constantly shout "death to the infidels" and how the non-Islamic countries are bastions of sin, yet use their technology, aid, weaponry, etc to fight for their cause.

Another reason why ISIS is garnering support from Gulf donors is due to the fact that it could disrupt the Islamic balance of power in the region. If Syria falls into shambles like its Iraqi neighbor, it damages the influence of the "Shi'a Crescent", causing Sunni hegemony in the Middle East.

From a geopolitical standpoint, causing mayhem in Syria and Iraq benefits the Sunni leadership, since Shi'a doctrine is seen as munafiq (hypocritical). Add Western and Kurdish interests in the region, and you have a recipe for disaster.

They do follow the Qur'an as literal as possible but they also don't in other areas. They're an ugly mix of Islamic fascism and mental illness. Shia and other sects of Muslims don't want anything to do with them, most muslim countries before the 1960s were moderate and akin to strict Catholicism, with all the fucking the west has done to this region, it has fomented these people and the biggest reason of all is that Saudi funding. For people to see it as just religion, is to miss the bigger picture, they'll use your technology and call you kafirs but they're the grunts. The rich Arabs funding these people are behind the scenes, plotting to get richer and more powerful
