The most dangerous (because of skinheads, etc) countries in Europe

I look like a südlander and the only person that ever gave me shit because he thought I was a gypsy was a cranky old man in Dresden and other people told him to fuck off.

We move between light and shadow, mutually influencing and being influenced through shades of gray...

^Which puts us back to the thread object and title: "Most dangerous places in developed countries"

Well, I nominate Argentina's Fuerte Apache (and funnily, there is also a "Fort Apache" in France: that's the nickname of the police station in the most islamized town of Parisian suburbs, Trappes)

Western Europe is getting more racist too. Not because the people here are inherently racist, but because of the influx of low IQ Muslims who mess everything up. Also, how they give refugees free homes, money and jobs (while the native population gets nothing) is fueling racism.

Wouldn't really worry if you're Asian, but very dark blacks can be seen as African refugees or 'dangerous'. The general atmosphere is just different compared to 5 years ago. People aren't happy anymore with how things are going.

I can attest to this, minus the whole Muslims part.
I've been visiting Poland since 2006 and I had my first openly racist moment just two months ago in Poznań where I got told; "I don't belong here".

It's a different atmosphere nowadays due to the migrant situation but it should still not deter anyone from doing their thing.

What about usual street crime- muggings, pickpocketing, etc? I've heard there are problems with Gypsies doing it in Italy, and North Africans in Paris. How bad is it and which European cities are the worst?

El_Gostro, Going strong, you almost made me spill my coffee! Eh gatos, te vamo a manda a todo lo pibe te vamo! XD

Now, going back to the thread, i never feelt discriminated in Europe....in fact, one of the first words i learned in german was "ich spreche kein deutsch" because people apparently mistook me for german and keep me asking for directions.

"What is important is to try to develop insights and wisdom rather than mere knowledge, respect someone's character rather than his learning, and nurture men of character rather than mere talents." - Inazo Nitobe

When i´m feeling blue, when i just need something to shock me up, i look at this thread and everything get better!

Went to Poland in January and felt safe. Walked around at night by myself a few times, and while I was a little worried when I saw a group of white guys walking by me, it was never a problem.

Krakow is very friendly, harder to say for Warsaw but no problems personally. Went to some smaller villages and they were cool.

I'm black.

3 of my friends went to Warsaw/Poland several months ago, I think I wrote the incident somehwhere on the forum. They are from Napoli and 7-8l Polish guys tried to talk to them on street and push them around, calling them "arabs" so on.

My friends told them that they're not Arab and showed their Italian passport and they were gone.

It goes for every place in the world regardless of race. Nobody middle to upper class is wandering into the ghetto at night just because his skin is the right colour.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

Just a Muslim passport control.

These incidents do happen in Poland, not as often as in the past but they do happen. You're normally safe but if you do encounter hooligans teasing you about your color you'll need to work your way out of it.

Have a backup story that can please them - e.g. you're not muslim, you don't like immigrants, you have Polish roots, you're married with a child and aren't here to look for Polish girls.. you get the picture.

Do not patronize or challenge them or it's hospital time for you, unless you're really big on mma.

All these "I felt safe" posts are irrelevant. It's mostly safe, but these incidents do happen more than in many other countries.

I have seen Arab-looking Christian guys wear big crosses on their chests. Those skinhead guys are surprisingly smart enough to differentiate between a Sikhs, Indian IT workers or Arab refugees - even rich Arab visitors.

It's funny because many arabs and turks used to say they were Italian in Europe when they wanted to score with the local girls.

I did this trip for gaming on April: Lisbon-Barcelona-Budapest-Warsaw-Kiev-Vilnius-Riga-Tallinn-Stockholm-Copenhagen-Barcelona-Lisbon.

The only place where I felt discriminated for being this portuguese dark-skinned guy (still caucasian though) was Stockholm. However, they don't treat you bad, they just do this insane face-control in clubs and bars, you simply can't get in without local contacts or Keyflow app. I also felt an arrogant attitude from girls.

In all the other countries of this trip I felt warmly welcomed.

Stockholmers discriminate everyone who isn't a dandy swedo.

This is the reason why I always bring my passport with me (and I started to cut my beard really short), for EE people I look close to an Arab or a Turk (or a Muslim in general), and I sometimes I get some troubles for this (nothing serious, more annoyances).
Even the attitude of the girls totally change after I show my passport, in general I leave them to check my name and my place of birth, and I think this is the best solution, because some girls told me there are some Turks/Arabs with EU passport who proclaim themselves Germans/French, or with an Italian/Spanish heritage.

My family does hotel business in Rome and we also did it in few Greek islands in the past. %70 of our customers were from Turkey at that time because island was 20 km away from Turkey. Turks don't really look like Italians at all. I can spot them from miles away but some (especially the ones from Izmir) are look identical with Greek.

I dont think anyone can spot them if they say they're Greek. Their food culture is also same too.

It's easy for us to say that Turks don't really look like Italians, but I ask to you, it's easy for us to recognize a Russian girl from a Finnish/Swedish one?
Maybe who traveled can easily recognize her, but I'm sure the average Italian who never traveled would be in a huge difficulty.
The first times they mistook me for a Muslim I was really upset (here in Italy be compared to a Muslim is an insult), but now I know they didn't say it in a bad way, they were in good faith.

Some Italians from the southern part and Sicily have a quite North African look to them.

Big Pussy from Sopranos could be mistaken for being North African or Lebanese.

I've noticed that lots of Sicilians, southern Spaniards, and Portuguese people could easily be mistaken for Arabs, Persians, or light-skinned Indians. One bizarre thing that I noticed while travelling the Middle East and North Africa was that people there didn't really seem to have one single phenotype. I would see a brown Arab looking dad with his kid -- the kid would be light skinned as fuck but then have curly afro-style hair. I'm a pretty dark skinned Indian guy, but I constantly got mistaken for being Syrian or Palestinian in almost every country I went to.

Throughout Southern Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and parts of India, western conceptions of race don't seem to apply. I think it's pretty interesting personally.

Williston, ND:

I lived there for a few months and 95% of the people I met there were amazing people and helped me a lot.

BUT, I was one night out with a few friends and I was buying beers and the guy next to me (like 70yrs old) thought I was an arab (I'm from the Caribbean so, no...) and asked me if I was, I told him I was not and we talked for like 1 minute then he told me: "I don't believe you're from the Caribbean, I know you're an arab and I love to kill arabs, I've killed a few..." then his buddy came to apologize for him saying he was drunk yada yada. It was spooky.

I was with a group of about 7 oil industry guys (tough people), probably that's why things never escalated.

Orlando, FL: ironic that Orlando which has one of the biggest latino populations. I was once at Burger King with my mother (she didn't speak english, I do) then the woman at BK started talking in english to her work mates saying stuff like "these dumb mexicans** don't even understand what I'm saying they don't even speak english." Needless to say, her face changed when I ordered my food in fluent english.

** I'm not from Mexico.
