Man drops dead shortly after divorcing wife.

Got no news story or link for this one, sorry, but a couple in their 40s who lives near me just had this happen. Her: a frumpy lawyer (WNB); Him: a house husband about the same age with a small internet side business of his own.

They were married about fifteen years but had no kids. Then one day she kisses him goodbye and by lunchtime at work she's holding divorce papers. Barely a month passes; presumably he'd moved out of the house, then he drops dead for unknown reasons at 41 years old, probably from a heart attack or something cardiovascular. I'd met him only briefly, but would have never expected it - seemed in reasonably good health. There's no evidence of foul play or allegations of any mistresses involved.

Why do I bring this up? Because I'm sure that man had plans when he filed his divorce papers, plans he'd been working on for a while and finally executed. A happily married man doesn't just wake up one day and say "You know? This sucks - I'm outta here!" At that age he saw things weren't going to get any more exciting and he couldn't see himself letting it all go nowhere as he rotted away in suburbia. Maybe he wanted a fresh start with a young wife and some kids, maybe he just wanted to be a MGTOW kind of guy, but either way at least he got off of his ass and made a move. The problem is it came too late. If he'd have done it five years sooner, he'd probably still be dead, but that could have been five years of fucking a tight pussy, living abroad, raising a small child or creating something new that he couldn't do from the comfort of his married life.

The point is if you find yourself in a situation where you can't stand your life but don't take any action to make it change, by the time you do you may have less - MUCH less - time than you think. Life is too short to waste it with people who don't make you happy.

(....I can only hope he died of massive heart failure from a threesome with two 18 year old hotties, but who knows.)

If he was a well cared for house husband with a small internet buisness then he was DEFINITELY up to something. The internet business gives an excuse to be online all day and incur minor business expenses and travel. With no kids to take care of that dude could have just been online dating all day, fucking chicks and setting up his escape plan. I think he probably had a good time even before he got divorced.

Hadn't thought of that; you might be right. Nobody will ever know now, unless she confides in one of her gal pals after finding a plane reservation to Thailand or something.

I'd be interested to know if there are any other such guys on the forum and what their situation/plans may be.

Just dropped dead from a heart attack? What kind of shape was he in?

As I recall, maybe a little paunchy but probably better than average for most middle aged white guys. His wife (ex-wife) probably weighed about the same as him.

Could happen to anyone. I saw a 21 year old 6'4" 200+ pound black kid collapse and die after a morning run one day when I was in the Army. He was surrounded by Army medics when it happened but there was nothing they could do. Even after all the physical exams he'd been through after two or three years in the military, they still didn't catch the congenital defect he had in his heart. There wasn't anything noticeable till one day something just gave out.

Half way through reading the OP, I was thinking "this post fricken sucks."

When I finished up reading the OP's conclusion, I was thinking "impressive post."

Good point, highly readable and concisely presented.

Well done.

As you get older, The Big One becomes a matter of concern. Did I just feel a twinge in my chest on the left? Is my left arm hurting because I strained it yesterday or because I'm having a heart attack? Am I over doing it on the cardio?

Divorce is stressful in almost all cases, the mortality rate for divorced guys is elevated for a year or two after.

This has something to do with the electric current in the heart. It is why in the UK we have defibrillators in public buildings and most private buildings above a certain size.

You cannot use CPR on these people. Only an electric current can restore their heartbeat.

Its sad because a lot of people die from it and yet it isn't well known to get a defib as fast as possible.

Not in this case. This occurred right outside of the training facility for US Army Special Forces medics - if anybody knew what to do in an emergency situation, the guys standing right there when it happened did. There was a defib machine on site in less than a minute, but even that can't correct a genetic fault in the heart. The good lord just said "Sorry kid, I know you're only 21 but I'm callin' this one in."

Don't waste a minute of your life.

This is one of my greatest fears, that I have a heart defect and could die randomly at any moment. It doesnt paralyze my thoughts or actions (well I try not to overexert), but it lingers there in the back of my mind.

There could be an aneurysm in your brain, too. Ready to pop at anytime and send you into a deadly stroke. So you can worry about that, too. [Image: icon_razz.gif]

Divorce kills men and destroys your finances. Its probably the least talked about health problem. Who in the SJW liberal media would care anyway. And if you have 50/50 odds, are you sure you want to take that risk? Men should only marry to have children with someone they think is suitable. Anything short of that is suicide;
