This is me in America :)

Some people think I am somewhat pessimistic in my writings. But I don't think that's quite accurate enough. I think this is more accurate [Image: smile.gif]

I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!

Sometimes my close friends and family will ask me why I'm so pessimistic and generally mad when I discuss politics. They tell me there's no use talking about it, and that if I feel so strongly I should do something to effect change instead of just complaining.

The problem is, I can't effect meaningful change on my own. Other people need to get mad first, and they won't look up from their iPhones long enough to see whats going on in America today.

Things need to get much worse before they can get better. Until people start really suffering they won't lift a finger or dedicate a moments thought to a complex political and demographic issue. Technology allows people to retreat not just to their livings rooms, but beyond them, into a virtual world.

All we can do now is try and improve ourselves and our own situations as much as possible, and wait until more people wake up.

Every great movement began with one man.

But how often does one man manufacture a movement, as opposed to taking the helm of one that was already in the process of developing organically?

One man can likely hasten a movement and give it direction, but he needs some base level of support to start. Not only are the red-pill beliefs required to enact change wildly uncommon right now, they're also so vilified that simply voicing them in most circles will cause you to be burned at the proverbial stake.

I read somewhere that a movement needs at least 5% of the population to be "true believers" before it can start to spread. Right now I'd say we're still below that threshold.

True, but it's still a start.

Network (1976)
This is a great movie. I recommend everyone see it especially for Ned Beatty's speech near the end.
