Which flags do you like the most and why? I'm not speaking about notches here but about the actual colorful fabric countries mark their territory with. It doesn't matter if you like actually like the particular country or not, it's just an aesthetic judgement

My top three:

South Korea



I always have a good feeling when I see this flag. The black stripes, red-blue circle in the middle, the symmetrical arrangement: great job, South Korea!

Albania



Albania's flag reminds me of a badass Medieval rogue kingdom. Very stylish eagle in the middle and a great color scheme.

Dominica



Simply looking at this flag makes makes me imagining myself drinking a cocktail with a hot Créole girl on a beach of this island. The nice colors and the parrot celebrate the sweet and peaceful life in the Carribean. Awesome.

The worst:

Poland I like Poland but this is just a fucking insult to the senses. I have a hard time to not fall asleep immediately when I look at this flag. Why the hell did Indonesia copy this atrocious scheme when they gained independence?

My favourite has to be Abkhazia. It's not offically recognised by the West but I don't care. I was there during their National Day and I loved it.

Some of the proposed post-Scottish independence flags for the UK are beautiful but most make no sense.

One, for example, has blue in it 'to reflect the fact that Scotland would continue to share the British monarchy', which logically doesn't add up because the national colours of plenty of other countries' with the same monarchy don't appear.

Many island nations have interesting flags; I like Kiribati's.

My favorite flags are usually those that include some form of symbols and imagery, rather than simply a series of random colors.

South Korea: nice color palet, central symbol that is easy to remember


Cambodia: has a central symbol that derives from the countries history. Asthetically pleasing.


Nepal, for being the only modern flag I know of without the standard rectangular design.


Tibet: looks dynamic, nice color combination; gives the impression of telling a story


Kazakhstan: looks simple, yet iconic


Taiwan: like the color combination


Canada: has a central symbol that is iconic, yet not overly complex.


Chicago



Greece: blue is my favorite color, and like the pattern and the color combo.
