"Creepy" Might Be on it's Way Out

Girls are more needy for keeping things cool socially, so while they do like to outright shame guys with insults, I think it might be causing them drama or something because I've noticed at least one new, psuedo-subtle pejorative that's popping up.

"You are very persistent"

This is a less confrontational way to say creepy.. it allows them to maintain an air of condescension. It's a thinly veiled put-down.

The fucked up thing is that persistence used to, I believe, be a valuable characteristic in men. A persistent man was persistent because he had a strong purpose.

I bet we are going to see a lot of these kinds of condescending shaming terms soon taking the place of old clunkers like "creepy."

soup, you bought in to the losers frame. The distinction between an underhanded compliment and a thinly veiled put-down is how you react (if you do) to it.

Habit is persistence in practice. You have a habit of talking to beautiful women, that's a wonderful thing.

Noir, how you react is different from what the girl's intention is.

It's not buying into the losers frame to be able to see a shit-test/put down for what it is. The real loser is the guy who's obliviousness to these subtle aspects conversation results in him getting blown out.

"My, that's a big word for such a little girl." (smirk)

"Did you memorize that line from a magazine? It makes you sound inconsistent."

"Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse. They're too stupid to be able to read or write. Besides they wear black, which is such a beastly color. I'm so glad I'm a Beta."

hah, exactly what I was going to say. "[smirk, raise eyebrows] that's a big word".

I've made it a point recently to ask younger girls to explain why someone they've referred to as 'creepy' in a story is, in fact, creepy (since asking them to explain the rationale underpinning their feelings is always an amusing thought exercise). usually with the subtext that I think the word has become overused. more often than not they'll backtrack if pressed for some level of analysis.

I feel like I'm doing my small part to eliminate that tactic... lol

I think it definitely comes down to the way that the girl says "You are very persistent." There are two things this sentence could mean --
1. NEGATIVE: You're coming on way too hard/I'm too good for you/I can't wait to tell my friends about how weird you are
2. POSITIVE: Fuck me hard.

-- and it's a much easier tell in-person vs. online dating/Tinder.

Regardless of how it was said I would still take it as a compliment and push on. I am pretty laid back when approaching and have yet to hear this in my career though.
