Thai immigration cracking down on border runs

And they are being thrown up all over the place. Its unreal. I just started a thread about this the other day. Look at the listings, half are pre construction.

The trend for Bangkok condos has been to build smaller SQM condos with more gimmicks (duplex condos the size of a couple U.S. bathrooms stacked together), shittier materials, and cramming in close to existing or future MRT/BTS lines. Everything is sold at a premium too because now it's "luxury"

There's a lot of speculation as to where and who the buyers are. There's a segment of the middle/upper middle class Bangkok population buying condos for sure but most of the units are probably purchased by wealthy thais looking for an additional income stream or some kind of speculative haven for their cash.

Price/rent ratio in Bangkok is sitting around 20 now which makes it a not so good investment anyways.

Don't buy any condos in Thailand. If it's for investment, there are a zillion better, safer, wiser ways to get out of liquid assets. If it's for feeling like you're living here ... I dunno. Got that itch sometimes too, but if you compare all the horror stories to any positive ones, the score settles pretty quick.

Also, hilarious about the visa rules. The guys most affected by this I'd love to not see around anyway. Think about it ... ongoing border runners.

On the flip side, hoping that August won't screw up the 30 day deal entirely. Enjoying BKK intermittently without any hassle is quite the perk. Can't find any info yet whether the airport changes will just be for back-to-back stuff, or more sweeping.
