Best Music From The '70's Thread

I remember a summer where it was just me and my Dad and he played '70's music all summer. Just driving around town, listening to The Eagles while sweating away in his rusty, old silver Dodge.

Here are a few joints I remember:

Post your favorite songs or talk about '70's culture. The '70's and '80's are fascinating decades to me.

Eagles = [Image: puke.gif] for me

The seventies was kind of a shitty time for music in general.

Good: I Van Halen, and some of the Rick James stuff that came out at that time. Giorgio Morroder..

The coolest music to come out of the seventies was probably punk.

Not sure about rock, but you had a lot of great soul and funk coming out in the early 70s for sure.

Glam rock was huge than, which I like a lot.

The original version. Joana Jett feminized it.

Most of pilot music is pretty good but it never got popular stateside. This one was in the end credits of Happy Gilmore I think.

Bbbbbbeny and the Jetts.

Al Green became a priest, but was probably plowing a ton of women at this time.

The original Blurred Lines?

One of the better guitar riffs of the 70s.

Great piano riff, and my favorite Seger song.

A very young Peter Frampton who was big in the 70s. But this was when he was still in the group Humble Pie. This is probably one of the slowest paces in a song I know of it, which makes it more impressive to me.

Peter Framptons most famous song I would say. Not his best but catchy.

The dual guitar soloing on this track, "Marquee Moon", is splendid.

Ahh, my kind of thread. Even though I was born nowhere near 1970, I dig a lot of the music from that era.

That should get you guys started off the right way.

In the summer of 1978 I was driving a big gas guzzler 1970 Ford that only had AM radio. Every song I could get sucked except this one:

Nice thread. I don't generally have much regard for the 70's. Mostly because the architecture from that decade has to be the ugliest in recorded history, and our cities are still saddled with it's rubbish. But there was some good music, especially from the early 70's. can't believe this track hasn't been posted yet. Ja, I know it is fashionable to hate it, but IMO it actually IS one of the best tracks of all time:

This is my favorite album from the 70's. Aside from Van Halen 1 and 2, its one of the greatest accomplishments in rock music.

Theme song from Reservoir Dogs. George Bakers other songs are really different.

One of the great sax riff songs.

The ear cutting scene from Resevoir Dogs. Gerry Rafferty actually sung this although he is not in the video.

Can't talk about the 70s without mentioning Iggy Pop and Lou Reed.

Edit: How the hell could I forget about Queen?

Not my favorite song by them, but naked lizards riding bikes.

This contains probably my favourite guitar solo of any song ever, with perhaps the exception of the next video. There was about a year or so in my early twenties when I listened to this song every single day.

Masterful. Duane Allman would be dead within the year. Great loss.

I can't believe that Sabbath has not received any love in this thread yet!

Anyone could easily post the entire Zep catalogue, but I just went with a less obvious pick.

Some of you may recognise this from the movie Collateral. For me, it brings back the memory that the very first time I ever heard Miles was also the very first time I dropped acid. Holy shit!
