German girls don't need feminism

Quote:Quote:

An anti-feminist Facebook campaign initiated by the conservative "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) party is generating criticism from feminists in the country.

The "I Am Not a Feminist" campaign responds to Germany's ongoing debate over a proposal to mandate 30 per cent of non-executive company board seats to women. Responding to the proposed gender quota, young AfD members posted photos with signs explaining why feminism to them is an outdated ideology.

If you check out the story, note the difference in quality.

Translation of the pictures:

1st: I'm not a feminist, because strong women shouldn't need to hide behind their gender.
2nd: I'm a feminist, because women also have the right to live from their work. Whatever women offer to society should be continually and seriously* recognized.

* Had a hard time reading the second part, is the bottom left word "ernsthaft"?

Found this campaign pretty shocking. Across the board, German women are much more masculine than their male counterparts, and wear the pants in both the political and work arenas. In my opinion, it's the men who need to sack up and push for change rather than the women....

I came across an awesome old-school German phrase: Kinder, Küche, Kirche -- Children, Kitchen, Church. Might be time for them to bring that back.

The English equivalent is "Barefoot and Pregnant".
Quote:Quote:

The phrase "barefoot and pregnant" seems to have been introduced in the early twentieth century by Arthur E. Hertzler, the Horse-and-Buggy Doctor' from Kansas: “'The only way to keep a woman happy,' he said, 'is to keep her barefoot and pregnant.'”
