Do you go through the nuddie scanners at airports?

Simple question: Do you willingly go through the nuddie scanners at airports or do you opt for an enhanced pat down?

Me personally, I always opt for the pat down. It gives me a rush as an incredibly lame way to go ,"F*ck you" to the NSA and security theater.

I once did a "whoo-hoo" a la pillsberry dough boy when the NSA guy goes in on the danger zone. It was hilarious how red the guy got and how many women nearby were laughing. I was suited up too.

Always patdown as the scanners are not FDA certified and I don't trust a bunch of monkeys to operate a radiative device properly.

I usually just go through the nudie scanner, but the pat down is starting to sound like fun. I might try that when I fly next month.

I get a kick from feeling the envy of other men as my enormous genitals are displayed on the screen, so definitely scanners.

Just kidding. I've never been to the USA.

Could you request a female to pat you down if you say you are gay?

I always get a pat down, and invariably the TSA goon will roll his eyes and say something like, "You know the scanner is harmless right?"

And you know what? He might be right. All I know for sure is that I trust very little of what the federal government says anymore. So I'd rather inconvenience some glorified security guard for a minute than subject my person to unneeded doses of radiation simply to line the pockets of the well-connected company who sells those scanners to the government.

I always opt out. Every time I fly in the US I tell myself that I'm going to give myself a boner before I go through the scanner to make it more awkward for them but I've never been able to get it up in that moment. So far I haven't gotten lucky and gotten in line behind a hot latina before I go through the scanner.

I used to opt out, but then I just stopped caring and did whatever.

I always opted out of the backscatter machines that the TSA discontinued using last year. I have gone through the millimeter wave scanners, which have no known safety issues. But I would not blame anyone for opting out.

But other studies have come to more troubling conclusions. One, from the Marquette University College of Engineering, found that backscatter X-rays do penetrate the skin and strike deeper tissues. In a second study, researchers from the Columbia University Medical Center estimated that 1 billion backscatter scans per year would lead to 100 radiation-induced cancers in the future.

Millimeter wave scanners don't carry these risks because they use non-ionizing radiation. To date, no known safety issues have been found with this type of scanner.

I always opt out just to fuck with TSA and waste their time and delay the whole screening process (if everybody opted out the whole system would collapse). Once I opt out, they ask whether I want a pat down in public or in private. I choose the private option because it requires two TSA goons (wasting more government resources)--one to frisk me and the other to watch the process and make sure it is done according to policy.

I don't want to take any chances with all of that radiation crap from the naked body scanners--and I hate and distrust this government.

happend to me once a JFK, wanted a pat down instead, guy moves to me the side so everyone could see and started to shout "OPT DOWN ON ISLE 14", i think that was his tactic to get me scared and go through the scanner.

I was like w/e and kept my cool. He kept me waiting for 5 more minutes while others went through the scanners and they were all looking at me. He shouts out again "OUT OP on ISLE 14"

Anyway some other dude comes and interrogates me to why im not going through the machine. I said its not safe, he says yes it is safe.

Then I told him about this

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...ancer.html

he didnt say much. Then gave me the most detailed pat down I have ever had in my life. Swabs my stuff for drugs, all comes clean. He walks away and says in a quiet voice "you can go now". I didn't even hear him say it, so I was unsure what was going on, but a few seconds later I realized.

It is weird that the UK still uses backscatter machines. Even the U.S. discontinued their use in the middle of last year, although for privacy concerns rather than safety concerns (which I believe were substantial). The TSA now uses millimeter wave scanners.

I opted out of the backscatter machines many times. Luckily, the TSA agents were always courteous -- or at least professional.

The UK is becoming even more of a police state than the U.S. They force you use these machines, without an opt out option, at the risk of missing your flight. The UK also has a law that forces you to supply passwords for laptops and other electronic devices, even if your data is encrypted.

^yes the UK is pretty bad, one of the worst.

I notice that if you are traveling with a young child (someone who you can hold), they allow you to by pass the scanner. As I was travelling with a young one, I always held him at the check points, and 3 times in the USA, they allowed me to go on without getting scanned

Call me blue pill, a pussy, empathetic, w/e. But TSA agents's jobs suck enough without my symbolic finger to the man, which is really just an exercise in futility.

I also believe the radiation will give me superpowers.

I used to opt out but I got very close once to being denied entry by a TSA agent as I did. He did an extended search of my carry-on looking for something to nail me on. But he couldn't pin anything me.

Still it's not worth it. As a foreign national I have next to nothing to get off the hook if a TSA agent really decides to stonewall me. Too much valuable time would be lost fighting the red tape.
