Goa, India Datasheet

Overview - Just returned from a week in Goa, India. Unfortunately my trip was cut short due to a 27 hour plane delay

Getting there - Flew from Manchester, UK on a charter flight. I needed to get a Visa which was a lengthy process and around 100GBP

Lodging - I stayed in Candolim which was relatively quiet and more family orientated, the hotel was all inclusive but due to the variety of restaurants and the price I pretty much ate out all the time. I’d recommend staying in Baga for something livelier

Transportation - Taxis are everywhere and can be bartered with, you can pretty much get anywhere for 5 GBP. I would usually go to Baga Beach or Anjuna which was 3GBP in a cab

Sites/Places to visit/Stuff to do
Palolem & Kola beach - I stayed in one of the beach huts which was around 20GBP for the night. This area had more of a hippy/traveller vibe with quite a range of nationalities
[Image: Palolem%20Beach4.jpg]

Following this I did a jungle adventure the next day. This was one of the highlights of the trip, jumping off 8-10 metre rocks into pools of water and abseiling down waterfalls - http://goajungle.wix.com/goajungle#!activities/c199t

Anjuna beach is good on a Wednesday, it’s full of beach shacks offering good deals on alcohol. There is also a market which gets plenty of visitors. More of a Russian crowd so plently of hot women

Dudhsagar falls is a decent attraction, 45 minute ride in a jeep through the jungle then a short walk before you get there
[Image: dudhsagar-waterfalls.jpg]

The Saturday night market in Arpora is worth checking out, lots of bars and DJ’s and interesting to walk around
I didn’t have the time to visit any of the beach/trance raves but I heard from a few Australian guys that they were good

Food – If you like Indian food/seafood then you are really spoiled for choice. I had some of the best curries i’ve ever had. You can eat like and king and get hammered for less than 10 GBP.

Miscellaneous – If narcs are your thing, weed, MDMA and coke can are available, be careful who offers it though as some are working with the local police.

Chemists are crazy cheap, I bought 100 Modafinil tablets, Retinol and a big stash of Viagra/Cialis for about 40 GBP. Testosterone was an option and I also asked about HGH, unfortunately they had none in stock but the guy advised Somatropin was 180 GBP for a box. Dentists are also abundant, whitening can be done for 80 GBP and crowns/veneers are about 150 each.

Nightlife – I spent most evenings around Baga Beach, there is a long road full of bars and clubs called Tito’s lane. Some of the places are couples only or ladies only which means the ratios are solid. To ensure I was allowed in, early on I’d get chatting to girls on the way to the places I wanted to go and get in with them, if nothing was happening with them I’d ditch them afterwards. Towards the end of my trip I’d greased the key waiters/bouncers so getting in places was never a problem. They would usually bring free drinks/shots over when I was talking to girls which was a nice touch. Mambo’s bar and Tito’s were the places I’d usually end up, great music also

Game style – Indian guys in Goa are thirsty, extremely thirsty and will try and cockblock you at every opportunity, plus they dress like shit. I’d usually go out in chinos, loafers and a fitted shirt/t shirt so I stood out a bit. There were a shitload of hot Russian girls but they seemed to be a bit more reserved. I’d get some shisha/hookah and they would come over to try it, then I’d get some shots and go from there. Indian girls were much more open and in bigger groups, once you extracted them (I’d just lead them somewhere quieter or to the dancefloor) from their friends it got easier. Most of the Indian waiters and taxi drivers who spoke a bit of Russian would tell me stories about their easy bangs with the Russian girls so I think if you spoke a bit you could do some serious damage

Summary/Stats – From the 4 nights I went out, I pulled 2 Russians and 2 Indians and banged one of the Indians. One of the Russians was a sure thing but I got greedy, aimed for something better and came back with nothing. Goa was an interesting place with great food and nice beaches but overall quite dirty, piles of rubbish everywhere, cows wandering around and it felt like everyone wanted your money. As mentioned earlier, if you know some Russian you could slay some seriously hot women.

It wasn't easy, infact it was a nightmare and I pretty much cavemanned her. As we were leaving a bar their group of 4 asked my mate for a light, we got chatting and they all seemed like well off/high value girls from Mumbai. We told them we were going to another place and that they should come with us (so we could get in without problems) and they tagged along. In the next bar they wanted to pose for pictures with us so i'd pick the one I was into up and shoulder press her everytime just before the photo was taken. After that I went in for the kiss, then isolated her whilst my mate distracted her friends, did some hook/deep rapport stuff (cheers Krauser!) and told her she was spending the night with me. She nodded and said 'no sex we've only just met', yeah whatever. Her hotel wouldn't let me in because I had no ID so we went back to my hotel. They insisted I get an extra room, they were not taking credit cards and only wanted cash. Unfortunately I didn't have enough so I gave the guy what I had, promised the rest the following morning, dropped a pre-emptive Cialis and took her to the room. There was a bit of last minute resistance but I smashed through it and got the well earned bang.

Regarding cockblocking, if the Indian guys saw you talking to girls they would come over and try and get involved, ask you where you are from and integrate themselves into the conversation. I'd either ignore them, tell the girls that this guy liked them and they should go for it whilst smirking, take the piss out of them or my mate would challenge them to a dance off or something ridiculous.

Overall I found the Indian girls to be more approachable/open than the Russians, i've got pretty pasty white skin and they seemed to be into that. I'd never really given them much attention previously but I saw some really attractive, elegant looking girls. They definitely went up in my estimations.

Many of the fancier places are ladies only or couples only, although some let guys in for a much bigger cover charge. The bars that were not doing this were absolutely bursting with sausage.

LOL at Goa, or India in general re girls. It's good for the food, or beaches in Goa, or sights. Other than that though it is like basically going back in time to the 60's or earlier. India is still a highly conservative society. Going to parties in Goa is really lame still sadly. Give it 10-20 years, it will become more of a whoredom like South Korea etc. Money drops panties. That is the universal rule.

Looks like I'm going to go to Goa for three nights at the end of my business trip to India in August. I know August is the low season for Goa. At least it's cheap and I will report back if it's worth going to during the monsoon. I will likely stay near Baga Beach.

I just plowed through it and followed the age old approach of 'When in doubt, get your cock out'.

It's much nicer in the monsoon. A lot cleaner. However, most places shut for the off-season(more and more places keep open every year). Still worth going though.

Goa is always cheap, don't forget to barter the prices down(except restaurants etc). Just say you are a longtermer and live in Candolim, Calangute or something. Many vendors will start at say 600rs and come down to 200rs. Some of them are honest and give "real" prices to start with, about 1/10.

There is a mall in Panjim(about 35mins from Baga by taxi) which has a KFC. Can't remember it's name, but there is only one as far as I know. It's worth a visit if you have time to shop. Genuine Levi's jeans are about $20 each. Shitloads of genuine designer gear is dirt cheap. There is also a quality tailor in Panjim, I have 5 custom made three piece suits from him. I pay around $150 for one with the highest quality fabric with silk on the inside. Not sure if it can be done in 3 days though. Unless you pay him extra [Image: smile.gif]

If you find yourself going to Anjuna(backpacker/hippy town), which is about 30mins in a taxi. Stop by a place called the monkey bar. The owner will ask what you drink and bring a bottle. When you are done he will take the bottle and make a rough estimate of what you have to pay, which is hardly anything. One of my favorite places. I have no idea what it's like there off-season though, I can find out if you want. My aunt lives in Goa.

Taxis are dirt cheap as well. You can rent a cab driver for 10hrs and it will cost you about 2-3000rs($30-40). Not sure if you need it, but I always get a sim for my phone. Costs hardly anything and its nearly free to call overseas.

Have fun!

Here's what I found on my trip to Goa. I was there during the off-season so much of it was closed and there were hardly any non-Indian tourists. Tito's Lane in Baga appears to be one of the most reliable and logistically sound places to hunt in Goa, so this report is oriented towards using that area as home base.

Getting there and lodging: I flew from New Delhi on Indigo Airlines. The other Indian domestic airlines fly there from other cities like Mumbai. The nicer hotels in Baga are located outside of the hamlet. My hotel was about 2km from Tito's Lane. The smaller hotels appear to want to charge you a premium price for a ride from the airport, which is about an hour away. To save money, when you exit the terminal, go to the window marked "Government pre-paid taxis" and tell them you're going to Baga. If it's evening, you can choose a non-AC cab for about 950 rupees. With AC is about 1050 rupees. As you walk to the window, the various touts and zombies in the area will attempt to divert you away by saying things like, "The government office is closed", or "It's all the same", or "I have better service." Ignore them. There are some guest houses located on Tito's Lane. The quality appears to be suspect but the logistics are definitely better.

Food: There are an unbelievable number of restaurants in the area. Fish curry is the local thing, but there are trendy cafes catering to the tourists with oven-fired pizzas, hamburgers, and pasta. The food is generally excellent. You can save money by buying a bottle of Indian wine at the restaurants vs the expensive imports. It's a good value for good wine.

Sights: Fort Aguada is pretty cool. There are also a couple of game preserves and waterfalls which I didn't go see. If you're there during tourist season, it's probably a better use of your time to go to the markets and/or beach huts and daygame on other tourists during the day.

Nighttime Tito's Lane has a good number of nightclubs. Tito's is the most well-known. Mambo's only allows couples or mixed-groups, but you can do as previously explained and latch onto another group to enter. Capetown isn't as strict. I went to Capetown. It had a good happy hour of two drinks for 100 rupees (about $1.50) until midnight.

Since I was there outside the main tourist season, 99% of the partiers were Indian. The ratio in the club was about 65-35 men/women and almost all were mixed groups. Unlike my experience in Bangalore, the guys here were not friendly at all if I approached them to befriend their group. I was totally blown out. The few western tourists present were much more friendly and open.

If your hotel has a bar, the other tourists staying there may pre-drink at the hotel bar before going out. So, you should hit the bar and see if you can meet anyone there before going out around 9 p.m.

When you're ready to go back to your hotel from the club, the local taxi drivers will try to rip you off. It's better to carry a phone and call your hotel to come pick you up. Otherwise, be prepared to bargain to get a better price on your taxi.
