Despite the many applications they'll get it may actually be quite difficult for this company to find a suitable person. As the article mentions most extremely rich people are not going to be interested in writing reviews for properties, let alone spend a whole year doing so.
They'd need a bit of an "imposter". i.e. Someone who is very familiar with the rich and luxury in general, but is not actually rich.

This is a PR stunt. It's a pretty good one, but PR nonetheless. They've probably negotiated a bunch of free or deeply discounted travel services in exchange for coverage from this site. Media picks up the $1 million job story and everybody gets some press.
It's much more of a contest than a job opening, but it would be pretty cool to win.

I put my hat in the ring: not rich but I have a lot of wealthy 9 figure friends and I tend to travel in first class and business because of miles and points. Long shot for sure but Let's see where this goes.
