Paramaribo, Suriname data sheet

Trip report on one of the most unknown countries of South America. I'm guessing not one of you guys traveled there.

General info:

-Getting in: Caribbean Airlines from Trinidad, KLM from Europe (Netherlands) and Surinam Airways from the Netherlands, Belem do Para, French Guyana, Trinidad and other Caribbean countries. You can take a taxi to your hotel for about 35 US dollars (50 KM ride,) so that's cheap as hell when compared to other countries.

-Currency: Surinam Dollar. 1 USD runs about 2.8 SRD and 1 Euro about 4 SRD. There are currency exchange offices around the country and USD and Euros are widely accepted.

-Language: Dutch. You can get by with English everywhere unless you go to small villages and poor neighborhoods no tourist ever gets in.

-Transport: Public Transportation is only used by the lower class. I recommend you to use taxi's since they are dirt cheap. Keep in mind never to use a street taxi because they charge double the fare normal taxi companies do. Same goes for hotel taxis. Just call a cab company and they'll pick you up. Befriend the taxi driver and ask for his number and he will take you anywhere.

-Safety: Tourists are easy targets, just like any (South American) city. If you are white be sure to never walk in places where there's no one around. If you're white, people will think you have money on you. Same goes for other S/A countries.

-Weather: The weather is around 30 degrees celcius all day. Around night-time the temperature drops to about 25.

-Food: Buying restaurant food in tourist spots is expensive, there are also restaurants for the middle and upper class. They are expensive as well.
Cuisine ranges from Indian, Indonesian and Chinese food.
If you want to find cheap food, you'll have to find a dirty Chinese restaurant at a corner most of the times.

-Neighborhoods: You'll most likely be staying in a luxury hotel. All of them are in downtown or within easy reach of the city center. There isn't really much going on in other areas since they are regular neighborhoods with homes.

-Hotels: Hotels aren't that expensive. You can find a great hotel for about 130$ a night.
Good hotels include:
Hotel Torarica; great area. You are in a tourist spot with lots of night-life.
Hotel Marriot; about 2km from Torarica, bad location if you want to walk since there are no pedestrian pads there.
Hotel Best Western; In the city center. You'll have to take a taxi to go clubbing, etc.

-Cell Phone Service: All girls here have a GSM cell phone BUT they have no credit on their phones! The 3 major operators are Digicel, Telesur (gov owned) and Uniqa. The most popular ones are Digicel and Uniqa. If your girl has one of the 2 you can call and text for almost free.
A SIM card costs like a couple of US dollars, downside is that they're gonna ask your ID.

-Internet access: There are internet cafes virtually anywhere and internet in the hotel is free.

-Value for your money: If you spend your money wisely and not think like your average tourist, I believe this is one of the cheapest countries in South America. The only thing that's expensive are electronic appliances like TV's.

Girls, nightlife and gaming women:

You will find all sorts of girls in Suriname.
Suriname is more culturally diverse than any other South American country, or about the same as Brazil.
You will find Chinese, Indian, Indonesian (Javanese), Black, white and mixed girls.
A lot of the girls are Mixed race and are mixed with all races you can find on the planet. That is why there is (almost) no racism going on in Suriname.
People could care less about where you're from or what you look like, but you will stand out if you have blond hair and blue eyes. Both positively and negatively.
Pictures of girls:

And here for night life pictures: http://www.partypixsuriname.com/pix.php

Girls live with their parents forever (or unless they marry.) So many of them will do things secretly. It often happens that girls secretly leave the house and get in a car around the corner to meet her BF. Women aren't as emancipated like in the US or Europe. It is perfectly 'fine' to order a woman to do something because many of them are poor and do anything to have a westerner. No woman ever pays stuff for a man.
Now, there are upper class girls who drive daddies car and spend money like water. These are the girls with major bitch shields, many of them travel to America and Europe and you can treat them just like you're treating a US girl with a bitch shield.

Meeting girls:
Club game can be run during the weekends as most clubs are closed during the week. Mall game is much better since they also hang out during the night there. Gaming near Hotel Torarica would be harder since only the upper class and tourists hang out there.
If you're interested in Dutch girls, Suriname is a good place too.
Many young Dutch students travel to Suriname for their internship. These girls will have sex with anyone, some of them also have a jungle fever and only hang with black Surinamese guys.
Surinamese Indian girls will be hard to crack for black guys since the Indian girls' family are very receptive of dating black men. You rarely see Indians with blacks.

Addition, flakiness of girls and Surinamese people in general:

Almost all of the Surinamese people I've gotten in touch with, have flaked on me in a way. If you're supposed to meet a girl at place x at 9PM, she won't show up at 9PM but at 9.30PM. Call her before you're at place x so she knows you're already there. Never call her to ask where she is if she isn't there, the best way to deal with this type of situation is to leave 15 mins after the time you were supposed to meet. Do not call her you're leaving, she will just take longer. If she calls you when you left, just make up some lame excuse and move onto the next girl, that will learn her a lesson.
This also counts for guys you're meeting at a club or places like that.
If you're supposed to meet him @ 10PM, the guy won't even show up and make up silly excuses like: "I had to wash my mothers clothes," or "I forgot I had to do something else."
Many girls will also flake on you before you have to pick them up from home.
In my experience, the best way to deal with this so called 'Don't worry/I don't care mentality' is to not pay any attention to them at all and move on.
I've read from you guys that Colombianas do the same, so I guess it's South American attitude!

Clubs:

Club Zsa Zsa Zsu:
Friday-Saturday from 11 till 05:00. You'll be needing a taxi to and from the place.

Club Starzz:
Wednesday: 23:00 to 05:00
Friday: 23:00 Until everyone leaves.
Saturday: 23:00 Same as Friday.

Your competition:

Some guys have Cash $ and most of the times it works.
If you are from America, be sure to tell the girls you are from Miami, Los Angeles or New York. They do nto know other places in the US because those are the cities Hollywood focuses on.

Game of Surinamese guys:

I have noticed blacks like to make funny sounds to girls, almost like they are calling a dog. I am dead serious, many Dutch girls fall for it since they never experience stuff like that back home.

Then you have the guys who try to sweet talk the girl, black guys do the same.

And Surinamese women know all this so that is why being a westerner/foreigner gives you an advantage. Surinamese women will love your style because they are so used to seeing badly clothes guys calling women names.

You can bring the girls back to your hotel or to a love motel, the motels are well hidden, you can even park your car in them since Surinamese men openly cheat. It is common for a married man to have 2 or 3 wives. just ask the taxi driver to bring you to a motel.. Just be sure to pay for everything since these girls DO NOT have money, these girls do not even have credit on their phones. You have to do all the work because you are the rich westerner.

Good luck!

Solid trip report man!! You mentioned being white w/ blond hair was both positive and negative. Is it b/c the Dutch go to Paramaribo to tear the place up? Hopefully it's not like Cancun to the U.S. or Brits to EE. Loose Dutch girls and getting away w/ English are two major pluses. If there's few U.S. citizens that go there I see this place as a potential goldmine. I checked out the link you provided and there are some hotties in the mix, but a presence of fugly ones also.

No, not really.
It's because being white (blond hair/blue eyed) can make you an easy target for robberies and the positive side for picking up girls [Image: biggrin.gif].

The only Americans I see here are members of the Mormon church riding their bikes in the baking sun.

To me, it was about 40% women and 60% men.
Well, depends on your definition of fat....
If you consider Jenny Craig to be fat, then you'll find that women will be fat.

A lot of women are 'fatter' than her.

Badstuber, my compliments to you for going to a less popular destination and providing a great report.

It's refreshing to hear about a place that isn't columbia or brazil.

Great pics too. Hope you got some pum pum.

Was poverty there extreme? Did you find the girls there to be easy? Are people there very materialistic?

Poverty,
If you are used to South American countries you won't find it to be extreme.
But if you are e European who never got out, you will face a culture shock.

Girls,
They are easy for a westerner when compared to locals for obvious reasons.

Materialistic,
Depends, girls will expect that you pay everything for them because you are the 'rich western tourist.' [Image: biggrin.gif]

Yes, the girls look amazing. And I am oozing with the prospect of going to such a strange place. But is there anything to do there other than bang chicks? Is it a cool city? Are there good beaches nearby? How was your personal experience with the girls?

No there is nothing else to do but tour the jungle and some man made beach resorts. There are no real beaches.

Hey Badstuber,

I was planning on writing data sheets on all three Guyanas but i see that there is already a good data sheet on Parimaribo. Great work. I just posted the data sheet on Guyana.

How many days were you there ?, how much money did you spent and did you get laid ? Here in Guyana its quite difficult.

I didn't get a question from Badstuber on my last post. After spending 8 days in Paramaribo i think i have to make a few adjustments to his data sheet.

I was shocked when i read this :

"Hotels: Hotels aren't that expensive. You can find a great hotel for about 130$ a night"

I spend my time in a small guesthouse called Twenty4. They charge 15 euro's/22 dollars a night for a room with aircon. other rooms have a fan for the same price. Mainly Dutch people staying there but like 90 % of tourist there are Dutch since it was a former Dutch colony. The toilets and showers are shared with 5 rooms but super clean and have hot water. The guesthouse has a bar. No problem bringing a girl back there because the reception closes at 23.00 and you get keys to the place. I asked the guesthouse manager if it was ok if i brought a girl to my room and it wasn't a problem, i just have to pay for a double room then which is easier than looking for a shabby motel in the middle of the night. I brought some girls in at night and sneaked them out of the side entrance in the morning, never paid double for it. Funny detail was that most guests saw me sneaking girls in and out but never the people working there.

No need to pay 130 dollars for a room and extra money for a motel. Save that money for clubbing.

The second thing i disagree on with Badstuber is this :

"I have noticed blacks like to make funny sounds to girls, almost like they are calling a dog. I am dead serious, many Dutch girls fall for it since they never experience stuff like that back home."

The Africans,Surinamese and Morrocans in Holland do this all the time and Dutch girls absolutely hate it. They despise those sounds.

There are two clubs Badstuber didnt mention

Club Touche - Very good club. thursdaynights
Club Havana Lounge - Lots of Dutch girls here looking for a black romeo.

English speakers have a big advantage here since every white guy is presumed to be Dutch. Black guys with game can definitely get a Dutch flag here. Quality of girls is low though.

My Experience :

- I went to Touche on a thursday, lots of approaches, no bites
- I went Zsa Zsa Zu on a friday but there was a Suriname band playing, boring night went home early.
- I went back to Zsa Zsa Zu on saturday and pulled an Brazilian girl/women, bought her one cheap drink, she had a car so it saved me 7 dollars for the ride back. banged her in my room and she left afterwards, Lousy lay.

I went to French Guyana for 3 nights and came back.

- I went to Havana lounge on Thursday, not many local girls in there, did some approaches but no bites
- Friday i fell asleep early
- Saturday i went back to Zsa Zsa Zu despite having a cold. Lots of approaches but no bites, drank lots of beers and smoked over half a pack of cigs. I was amping up to approach a black hottie but she approached me herself and wanted to dance. I danced with her and got her phone number. She was there with her sister, brother and 3 gf's so i couldn't pull there.
- woke up horribly sick the next day and went for a few drinks with her. banged her early the same night. went out again for a bit but was too sick to keep up. Runny nose, couldn't breathe anymore, fever. I left her with her girlfriend and went to sleep, an hour later she came to my guesthouse for more sex. The next day she stayed with me too. she paid for most of her own drinks and taxis, even brought food to my room. Kinky detail , she is married.

Yeah, i had a great time there except for the food which wasn't that special, didn't like the roti so much , especially compared to the roti i had in Singapore. Schaafijs was not special either.

Feel free to give more insights on Surinamese lifestyle and girls. I think this country is underrated.
