Great Travel/ Adventure Blog

I was speaking to one of my teachers today (who is a big time adventurer and kayaker) and telling him about some of my travel plans, and he said I should check out this blog:
http://greatwhiteexplorer.blogspot.co.uk by Hendri coetzee

It was written by a (now deceased) South African explorer and kayaker, who was the first to kayak many sections of the Nile and generally did crazy shit. Its got some really cool travel stories and thoughts on life/ philosophy.

I personally would recommend reading from the start, as there are only about 10 posts by Hendri, (the rest are obituaries by his friends after he was eaten by a crocodile). His last post is very poignant and almost prophetic, so it is worth reading the previous posts before you get to it.

Interesting read, especially since I visited many of the same places.. Zambezi, Jinja, Goma, Kigali and the Rwenzories. I know the magic in those places and I understand his mindstate in those times. I too, like him, but in a lesser manner often feel the need to go harder, to look for adrenaline and to disregard the risks. I think we have many of these type people on the board here, it is something that unites us.

Good stuff - thats living. Would be good to get the book. After paddling and swimming in Australia's northern wilderness I have a lot of respect for crocs. Not 2m freshies ... I mean +5m salties. They are real life monsters.
