Greece in May

Does anyone have any insight in to gaming in Greece during May? I believe that's shoulder season and most of the threads here focus on the height of the tourist season/summer. I've been invited to meet up with my cousin on Kalymnos and was planning on either hitting up Kos, Crete or a combo for the majority of a 12 day trip. Ideally, I would like to get some hiking in too, perhaps midweek, unless the party is rocking 24/7. Athens doesn't sound terribly productive. Any insight would be appreciated.

I was on the islands of Mykonos, Santorini and Ios last May 20-31. It was definitely on the quiet side, not yet peak season. But the weather was fantastic, and there were just enough girls that it was possible.

Best spot for hooking up was Ios, but a very young crowd, like 18-21 (many high school graduation parties). Try Far Out Beach Club.

Mykonos was a mid-20s crowd. Try Skandinavian bar.

Santorini was a beautiful island. It's supposed to be a romantic retreat for couples, but many lonely single girls also travel there. They are pretty easy to spot and pick off. Good logistics in the Fira area...one main street filled with bars/clubs. Try Murphys bar.

Overall, I'd probably wait until at least June if I could.

Athens was decent. The neighborhood you want to hit is called Gylfada.

Ios keeps consistently coming up as the best island to go to for women if anyone is going to the Greek islands.

There is not a single negative post about Ios on this entire forum, maybe it's the summer paradise hot spot?

The main problem with Ios is that it's not a "classy" party spot. You can think of it as a street full of dive bars, filled with Aussies and Brits drinking obscene amounts of liquor. If you're over 25, you'll feel old on the island.

On the other hand, the cost of living is cheap, and many young people stay the whole summer working odd jobs.

Thanks for the input. As I'm in my mid 30s, I think I'll pass on Ios. Looks like it will be a combo of Kalymnos, Kos and Rhodes. The other islands would require too much travel time from Kos for such a short trip.

Kos would be good idea but much more mature people than you expected... Actually, I am also mid 30 and I want to visit there for summer holiday. Your message discouraged me a lot.
We should ask experts like Greek Kamaki about pick up possibility in Ios for mid 30's...
